I have this problem that firefox always gets stuck for at least like 20 seconds each time when I close another firefox window. I usually have several firefox windows open at the same time. When I close one of them, the rest of them get stuck for seconds before they can do anything, sometimes crashed (not common). I notice that firefox crashing usually has to do with some firefox windows were running online video, like youtube or others. It can be any advertisement on any website that is in the form of moving pictures. But crashing is really not common. Just getting stuck every single time when I close one firefox window among others.

I thought it was because my computer is old but Internet Explorer doesn't have this problem on my computer. I even downgraded firefox to version 28 ( I used to have the latest, 36?) That did not solve the problem. I am running on windows 7. I would like to keep using firefox because it allows add-on so I don't want to switch to IE. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks.

On my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit system, I've encountered the worst problems I've ever had with Firefox (Every version, I've tried both older ones and the newest, currently using 37). One day I restarted by computer, and when I booted up Firefox, it was completely broken. It failed to load my bookmarks, TabGroupsManager couldn't load my saved session, and it crashed when I tried to search Google or visit several websites. I could not fix it, and migrated to Pale Moon until the exact same thing happened there. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it, but now every time I open it it's like it was just installed - no profile info, no add-ons, no bookmarks, absolutely nothing. The application data HAS the folders for the profiles that were opened each time - Firefox will not access them, and does not recognize that they exist.

I am utterly lost and at my wits' end. No help topics or other sites have been any help at all. The problem is exclusive to one computer - two other computers I have used have not had this problem at all. Please help!

(Additional note: When I experienced the first problems in Pale Moon, it was giving me an error that it couldn't access the bookmarks and history because another application was using them. That error message never appeared in Firefox but given the identical profiles of the problems and the fact that Pale Moon is based off of Firefox, I think it might be pertinent.)

Stopped upgrading at version 28 because Google Streetview (classic mode) flickers badly in any version higher. Because YouTube videos imbedded in Disqus post recently stopped working in v28 I'm forced into a version that's not working for me. Any chance you might fix the flickering Google Streetview (classic mode)?

When I started my computer this morning, all the navigation buttons, home, bookmarks, reload etc. are missing from the toolbar at the top of the FF screen. The 'Restoring Default Toolbar set' option does not work because right clicking does not open the Customize dialog box. I have tried regressing to an earlier restore point which did not resolve the problem. I have attached a screen shot. Any help would be much appreciated, except for suggestions to install the latest version of FF. :) I am quite happy with version 28, thank you very much.

I am using WYZO a FF based web browser. Although the OPTIONS are similar I cannot figure out how to enable cookies. Using the browser there are a number of sites requesting I enable cookies. How do I do that in simple steps. In addition all attempts at opening the help pages or support pages yields the 404 error. I have the same issue in QT web browser which is also a FF clone. Please give solutions to these issues. Thanks.

I would like to have a dynamic set of bookmarks that is common between two (or more) profiles. That is, the bookmark files are shared between the profiles. Is there a "config" setting that will point the profile to bookmarks?

So, about a year ago I upgraded from my rock-solid, uncrashable 5.whatever to whatever the current version was at the time, due to websites not allowing me to pay bills. Then the crashing started. The first couple times, I blew it off, but it was happening almost daily, which was a real problem, so I started allowing firefox to submit crash reports, including my email address, thinking that I'd get a little note telling me I'd screwed something up or the version was buggy or some such, but to date I've yet to receive so much as even a boilerplate gladhand telling me that my problems are due to this or that, or that they got the report. Has anyone ever gotten any assistance from mozilla support this way, or is this the only way to (hopefully) get acknowledgement of issues? Enclosed is a screenshot of the about:crashes page with a list of most of the submitted reports.

I really have enjoyed firefox as a browser, but crashes are a hassle which I don't need, and I really don't want to invest time in learning a new browser. Suggestions?

Once I open firefox browser with anything past 28.0 my browser becomes a paperweight no searches from the address bar. Not from the list of drop downs, not from typing the address in the bar. Stuck to the home page it had as default. Firefox does an update every time I close it forcing me to return to 28.0 or through my F--n computer in the trash. Noticed others had this problem but got only questions with no help coming from firefox. This is a Vista 64 bit if that maters. I kinda think maybe nothing past 28 will work but with Vista but no one from firefox will step up and say that.

Firefox keeps randomly crashing. Here are the last four crash reports. My computer is up to date, but I am running Firefox 28.

Simple the details are all in the question. My bookmarks tags are a long string of forward slashes and I cannot delete them There must be a way to get rid of them short of deleting my entire bookmark file

I don't know what happened but suddenly all thumbnails in tabgroups started appearing black every time after restarting Firefox. The strange thing is that right after restarting Firefox and open the tabgroups window for the part of the second the thumbnails appear with their old cached version and then all turn black. I reinstalled firefox and run CCleaner but it didn't help.

There are three toolbar icons whose popup text I want to change. They are:

"Close Open Tab or Window" "Close all tabs but the selected one" "Close All Tabs"

I would like to know where this text is stored so that I may be able to edit it to my preferred wording, such as:

"Close This Tab" "Close Other Tabs" "Close All Tabs" - OK, the last one is fine!

When FF29 was released, I discovered that Mozilla had basically just "cloned" Chrome and deleted/broke long-time FF features. So I (and I suspect many, many others) reverted back to the REAL Firefox, version 28. I was wondering if the major blunder(s) had been fixed in the versions following 29?

SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code.

I'm using mac mini with 10.10.1

I just started using Firefox again after a long time. At the bottom it said it would start transferring all data from all web pages back to them to help with future releases or something. I just clicked to close and now it literally is transferring every single data when I visit a web page. I'm not going to use Firefox if I have no control over my privacy. How do I get that turned off? Thanks,

Ok. Firefox was my main browser on my old laptop, but I ended up having to wipe it's hard drive a few weeks back. Before I wiped the hard drive I saved a recovery key. It did not say that I needed an account, just the key, so that is literally all I have. I did not have a firefox account back then. (Note: I'm pretty sure I didn't have an account at least, because when I searched for an account on Firefox with the only two emails that I use it couldn't find an account under either.)

Now that I'm trying to recover my old data, I've read that I have to download a pre-29 version of Fireox, so I got Firefox 28 mobile, but the damn thing insists that I need a Firefox account ALONG WITH the recovery key to gather the old data. It won't recognize my new account info (that I just made when I downloaded the newest version of Firefox before realizing it wouldn't be able to sync), so now here I am. With a seemingly useless sync key, a useless sync account, and all of my old bookmarks and passwords lost to the ages.

Is there anything I can do, or should I just give up?

I will not use Firefox 29 or newer until the crappy interface introduced in v29 it made user friendly, and bring back certain missing thing from v28 (they may be profile holdovers from a much older version), no the classic theme restorer does not bring them back. The above is here simply to try and stop suggestions about using v29

I have tried going into options menu Firefox>Options>Advanced>Never Check for Updates, but that does not prevent updates. I have had to uninstall Firefox 29 5 times today every time after telling it to "Never check for updates."

No matter where I move a bookmark to, in the sidebar, it always pops to the bottom of the folder, or in the case of an unsorted bookmark (not in a specific folder), it goes to the very bottom of the Bookmarks sidebar. No matter how many times I drag it back it will always go to the bottom of whatever it is in. This is extremely annoying and I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. p.s. I turned off "Sync" to see if that made a difference and it did not.
