I will be moving all of my data to a new laptop and want to know if I need to have both my personal Firefox profile and the "default-release" profile backed up. The "default" one is over 3GB and has over 20k files in it, and my personal one is only 113 MB with 1300 files — and my thumb drive needs all the extra space it can get. (Why would the "default-release" profile be so much larger than my personal one?)

The old laptop runs on Windows and the new one will have the Linux OS. Will that make a difference in using a backed up Firefox profile? I mean, will the data still work in the new OS?

Each and every time you install an upgrade on Firefox, your profile vanishes. So I questioned on how to save my profile and I found a nasty solution where you have to close Firefox because of a stupid empty file named parent.lock which happen to be empty on the 2 cases I checked. I did not sniff in the restore constraints yet... What a mess ! Looking at the frequency the Firefox's upgrade arrives, it would be advisable to automatically preserve the user's parameters. Alternately it would be a good thing to have a save/restore function for Firefox's parameter.

My e-mail address changed, but the old one keeps popping up. I need to ELIMINATE the old one and use ONLY the new one. I've told various organizations, businesses, etc., to make the change. I want Mozilla Firefox to ELIMINATE the old one and use ONLY the new one. Help!

Hello, I am still using windows 8.1 64bit & refuse windows 10, due to high risk privacy, yes predictable hollow words are said, BUT is Microsoft, a greedy un-scrupled money making, money hungry corporate entity, wants us to willing give it our private details voluntarily or under thin layer of extortion.

Hence my sticking to windows 8.1 as I have certain control, mainly updates.

Will Mozilla browsers be specifically supporting older operating systems like windows 8.1 into the coming years, not just months, e.g. until January 2023

Yes is a blunt question, but is eluded against in other responses, maybe is Microsoft buy out to sacrifice mozilla loyal users or similar, same query is for Brave browser. Mozilla I think is last Bastian for decency & morality, a leader in justice & honour.

my computer crashed yesterday because my ssd of my computer broke, therefore i had to reinstall firefox. Having done so and looging in, i cannot find my bookmarks, passowords, history, etc. I am sure i had my account always synced.

i am using a loaner laptop right now while i wait for my main laptop to be returned to me. i need my bookmarks so i downloaded the browser & went to log in. i can't find my password & apparently to reset it i lose all my bookmarks which is the ONE THING i need from firefox right now. i am fully logged into firefox on that other laptop (tho who knows now that i tried logging in on my new device). i can't risk losing all my bookmarks. i need some help here, but i couldn't even get help without creating a NEW firefox account. can someone send me a support email to reach out to?

Need some help with Firefox crashing. System: Windows 8.1 64 Bit instilled on a Samsung SSD, 24 GB free space, 24 Gigs RAM, Firefox installed on conventional HDD (G:\) drive, 1.03 TB free space. This has been the standing configuration for many years, working with no problems.

Problems began with FF update 111.0. Any attempt to download files (.jpg or .pdf) would cause the “save” button to freeze, and after a seconds FF would crash. If an attempt was made to change a setting FF would again crash so quickly it was impossible to attempt any changes. Oddly enough, FF update 111.0.1 fixed the issue (or so I thought) and things returned to normal. I assumed whatever caused the problem had been fixed.

Unfortunately, every update beyond 111.0.1 reverts back to the same freezing and crashing behavior. I have attempted the following with all updates above 111.0.1 in an effort to correct the issue. So far nothing has worked. BTW, Brave and Chrome work just fine.

Cleared out all cache and cookies. Changed download folder Opening in safe (trouble shooting) mode Clean install(s) Disabled hardware acceleration. Putting the entire program on C:\ drive (apparently the newer FF installer does not allow custom installations any more). Checked and updated all drivers

Currently I have disabled automatic updates as none of them have the same freeze/crash issue. I am out of ideas and would certainly be glad to get any advice. At this point Brave is going to be my new default browser. Yes, I know 8.1 is no longer supported but I am not in a position to replace this PC at the moment.

It seems like no matter what I do, I can't get Firefox to download files from Google Drive. It loads for a moment, then it says "The page isn’t redirecting properly". I have confirmed that it's only Firefox because I can download files from Google Drive with Google Chrome. I have disabled Enhanced Tracking Protection, selecting the Standard Enhanced Tracking Protection Setting, and even refreshing Firefox. Though, I noticed that it only works on incognito mode for whatever reason.

When Firefox updated on my Windows 7 computer, I could no longer access my email on Outlook.com. I had to revert to an earlier restore point on my computer (and thus the previous version of Firefox) to use Outlook.

When I click the "restart to update" button it restarts but the button is still there and it's not working. I even restarted my laptop and still nothing. Is there anyway for me to fix it?

In trying to startup browser I get this message: The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem. I tried to uninstall the browser, but it would not let me. Help!
