Every time I go into firefox there seems to be another update to download. I conform to ensure I'm up to date. The latest has changed my display to a basic display. All my bookmarks are gone. I cannot access the back up file on my W11 computer. I have a new android phone and I installed firefox on that, but I have yet to use the application as a browser, on that phone. I tried to recover from the phone, but it does not give me the options to select to follow the steps firefox says I should take. It does not allow me to scan the QR code. I desperately need my bookmarks. If I go to the help, obviously others have the same problem. I see the questions but no answers, I am signed in. I have been trying now for 2 hours. Please help. Why does Firefox do this? Its not the first time this has happened to me, but now I'm lost.

After several windows problems, I did a clean install with forgetting to sync or backup on my profile and lost a good bit of my bookmarks. However, I managed to retrieve some files, but they seem corrupted and after going through forums and several researches, I am unable to use them. I tried to look at the files and some of them turned to chinese and others have strange symbols in them. Thanks lovely people!

I was reinstalling my windows and created a backup from my old firefox into my usb drive. My backup failed and coudn't be restored, I'm confident that I use the correct password, tried to copy the file from usb drive into my laptop and select it from there but the result is the same, if you guys would be so kind as to guide me on how to restore my backup, since my password and everything is in there. I didn't create another backup since I believe that this one would succeed. Thank you in advance.e

After a recent Firefox update, all of my saved passwords disappeared.

I checked my Firefox profiles and found that the current `logins.json` and `logins-backup.json` files were newly created on August 30, 2026 and contain no passwords.

However, in the older profile data I still have:

• `logins.db` — approximately 480 KB, modified August 19, 2026
• `key4.db` — approximately 288 KB, modified August 18, 2026
• `signedInUser.json`
• `storage-sync-v2.sqlite`

I opened a COPY of `logins.db` using DB Browser for SQLite. It contains:

• 392 records in `loginsM`
• 5 records in `loginsL`

The records clearly contain my saved websites in the `origin` field.

The table columns are:

`_rowid_` `id` `origin` `httpRealm` `formActionOrigin` `usernameField` `passwordField` `timesUsed` `timeCreated` `timeLastUsed` `timePasswordChanged` `secFields` `guid`

The `secFields` values begin with:

`eyJhbGciOiJkaXIiLCJlbmMiOiJBMjU2R0NNIn0`

Unfortunately, after discovering that my passwords were missing, I also reset my Mozilla account password. I understand that this may have affected the server-side Sync data.

My main question is:

Since the 392 encrypted login records are still physically present in the local `logins.db`, is there a supported or technically safe way to recover/decrypt those records and restore them to Firefox?

I still have the older `key4.db` and have preserved copies of all of these files without modifying the originals.

I am currently also attempting Windows File Recovery to look for an older deleted `logins.json`, but I would especially appreciate guidance on whether the surviving `logins.db` can be used for recovery.

I used to have a whole list of "marque-pages", which apparently totally disappeared after a software update which I never requested. This really is INFURIATING  !!!!

個人的にFirefoxの過去のアクセス履歴が欲しいため、毎日places.sqliteのバックアップを取得していました。 先日、バージョン154.0になった時点で、突然それまで利用していたアクセス履歴やブックマークが使えなくなり、バックアップしていたplaces.sqliteファイルをコピーしても同様の現象が起こってしまいます。

詳しく調べたところ、どうもバージョン154からplaces.sqliteに格納されているテーブルの構造が変わっているようで、アクセス履歴などが消えた理由もそこにありそうです。

今後も過去のアクセス履歴は利用したいため、直前のバージョンのplaces.sqliteを新しいバージョンに移行する具体的な方法について、もしご存じの方がいらっしゃったらご教示お願いします。 （sqlite managerなどツールを使ってのインポート／エクスポートは既に試しております）

Bought a new Macbook Pro with 26.6.2 and need to transfer all bookmarks from old Macbook Pro 10.14.6, I tried exporting the profile from the old Macbook but it did not work.

Firefox is always displayed on an EXTENDED External Display. When I flipped a circuit breaker to work on a lightswitch, the EXTERNAL DISPLAY lost power, but the laptop which runs Firefox continued uninterrupted. When I restored power, Firefox had LOST ALL OPEN TABS - there were probably 50-75 tabs that opened every day when I started Firefox. Now I don't see a choice to ReOpen Last Session or anything else that looks like it would restore all the closed tabs. All the choices in Recent History seem to be what was browsed yesterday, day before, etc, but NOT all the tabs I routinely left parked OPEN every day which were open for months - the ones that opened every day when I opened Firefox. Are these tabs stored somewhere where I can recover them. I'm running firefox on an HP Laptop PC with Win11 Pro.

Please give me a simple step by step breakdown of how to solve this. I am AuDhD, and am trying to use digital technology to assist with my problems with executive function. Internet security requirements seem determined to stop this, by not consistently saving the data I expect them to, and then asking for it when it is too late for me to have realised I needed a 3rd party solution. I don't think I should need several products to achieve this very simple goal, but neither Google, Mozilla, Microsoft not Opera seem to agree This is now causing distress and taking a huge amount of time to try and resolve with companies that profit hugely from their customers, but refuse to talk to them directly.

Subject: Help recovering old Firefox Sync data using my Recovery Key

Hello Mozilla Support,

I’m trying to recover my old Firefox Sync data, especially my bookmarks and saved passwords.

I still have an Account Recovery Key that I saved on August 27, 2025. However, after signing in to my Mozilla account today, my account page shows “Account recovery key: Not set”, and syncing does not restore my old bookmarks or passwords.

I may have reset or changed my Mozilla account password today without using the old Recovery Key during the process.

Could you please confirm:

Is there any way to use my old Recovery Key now to recover the previously encrypted Firefox Sync data? Is the old Sync data still retained on Mozilla’s servers in any recoverable form? Is there any other recovery procedure available for bookmarks, passwords, or previous Sync data?

I still have access to the same Mozilla account and the original Recovery Key file. I will not send the Recovery Key itself unless there is an official secure procedure that requires it.

RE: JBR posted an answer to your question "All bookmarks disappeared. I found my json backup files. How can I import this file into Mz, now that it has created a new, dysfunctional 'profile' ??"

Today's update to Fx re-established the link between 'import' and my .json backup files of my extensive, organized bookmarks.

Firefox wanted to up date and I clicked okay. All my information still to be as it was but it didn't download when the computer came back up. How do I get everything back?

Update downloaded a few days ago, I closed Firefox to restart with updates and I can't get my previous session back. I even tried my OneTab to see if I could get older stuff back and it's lost that too!
