What have you done, Firefox? Where are my bookmarks? None of the help articles have helped me find them. No "Bookmarks Library" link, no bookmarks button on main page, no "Refresh" option anywhere that I can find....

Opened Firefox this morning around 11 a.m., opened up Firefox. A dialogue box I have never seen before appeared, insisting I set up a "profile". What profile? Why? Why no explanation of why I need a profile, and what the h.... is the difference between the two profiles offered?

When I finally chose "default" for profile (NO idea what that means!), I saw that all my settings are gone and most alarmingly, ALL my bookmarks. HOW do I retrieve them?

I am using a laptop Dell with Windows 10, 64-bit....what else do you need to know?

Really upset with this. Also upset with how difficult it is to find immediate help for Firefox.

My surface pro died. Bought new computer, downloaded firefox, logged in and pressed sync. The bookmarks from Firefox on my surface pro did not import into my new computer. Help?

I was having problems with Windows 11 and I reinstalled it, After the new installation I lost my passwords and bookmarks from Firefox. I signed into Firefox however I did not know my password so I had to renew it, does this mean I have lost the passwords and bookmarks forever? I didn't have a recent back up, either. I tried to do a system restore but the new version of Windows 11 did not have any restore points. Regards from Narelle Patterson

I upgraded my iMac from Mohave to Monterey and lost all my bookmarks in Firefox. I had hundreds. I'd like to get them back. Maybe from a saved backup file on my backup harddrive. I've tried all the suggestions posted online. It looks like the file that holds the bookmarks was updated to the most recent. I don't know where to find the old bookmarks file. Can anyone help?

From a folder, I have loads of Firefox profiles from different eras. I am looking for a way to export all the bookmarks of each of the profiles to an HTML file like the manual method (Library > Import and backup > Export bookmarks to formal HTML), but all in an automatic way by script. I like the HTML export from Firefox because it allows you to quickly navigate using keywords, either in links or in the folder names I gave.

Is there a simple solution that would reuse, for example, the same export code as Firefox ?

Hi...

When I restart the browser, the bookmark bar is empty on startup and it also does not respond to anything. You can't use RMB on it and you can't drag a bookmark onto the toolbar.

I have tried 500 billion different thing with no luck - for instance:

• Refresh
• Reset toolbars to default
• Reinstall and complete deletion of profile etc.
• Diagnostic start with extensions disabled

...and probably a few hundred other things, but the problem reappears every time.

I'm using sync, so every time I've deleted/cleared etc., I log back in to sync and it syncs back bookmarks. Everything is great until I close the browser and restart it - then the bookmar toolbar is empty and unresponsive again.

The problem appeared recently - probably within the last 1-2 weeks.

Please help. :)

What happened to my "recently bookmarked" category? It has disappeared and when I save a book mark, no where to be found??? Clicking on "tags" shows empty as well.

Help me restore the generic "recently bookmarked" item again. Thank you.

I'm having a pretty frustrating issue that I've been trying to troubleshoot all morning with my bookmarks toolbar. I've made sure the toolbar is enabled, changed my theme, used multiple workaround on this forum and others, refreshed and reinstall Firefox to no avail. The only thing I noted was after my first refresh of Firefox my bookmarks toolbar was present, but when I closed firefox and reopened it again it was gone.

I'm trying to restore my bookmarks from a .json backup file, but when I restore from it, all the bookmarks go into the Other Bookmarks folder. All the other folders are imported but are empty. I've tried the automatic backups and the same thing happens.

Obviously I don't want to have to drag and drop 2000 bookmarks back into their folders... how can I fix this?

Hi! My bookmarks are not syncing across my various devices. I tried:

• Signing out and in all devices.
• Delete my account and create a new one with the same email address.

But none of this solved the problem. Thanks

Hi, I recently had to upgrade my Linux system and Firefox along with it. I am trying to find my bookmark properties or description or comment field with important information that is not kept anywhere else. I found a couple old questions that I thought might be related to this but again they are old:

So this is a new question as the others were locked. I tried doing what was listed in them to make a backup/export but looking at the html only shows the book mark and no other fields related to the them. The bookmark-notes add-on is 4 years old so I don't know if that would help me get my stored information. This is causing me lots of problems. Please advise.

Hi! Ever since Quantum, I haven't paid much attention to Firefox (not much of a point, is there -_-). But today, I found myself using modern Firefox again and wanted to add a keyword search bookmark. Where has the "keyword" field gone from the "Add Bookmark" dialog? Is there a way to bring it back? I found nothing promising under about:config :(

All I see when googling is guides saying I should first add a bookmark, then go to the bookmarks panel, find and select my new bookmark, edit properties, and then I'll be allowed, by Firefox's grace, to add/edit keywords. This takes all of the convenience out of the process.

Does anyone maybe know an extension that can bring the field back?

Since upgrading to Firefox 99.0.1 when I bookmark a web page into a specific folder, the URL does not appear when I open that folder. A restart of Firefox does not fix the issue.

But if I try to Bookmark the same page again, I am asked to edit it. So it must be in the folder but it is not visible! Help!

Hi I Can not remove Bookmarks. I test all usual ways but nothing happened!i first i test manage Bookmarks and select delete but it did not work... then i made my own account and nothing change... steal i can not delete bookmarks.
