After moving home from college Firefox no longer works. I can open the browser, and it doesn’t crash, but websites will not load and I can’t search anything. The weather data says it is not available. I have tried everything. Uninstall and reinstall, reset, scanned for malware, reset DNS on my computer, cleared cache both on Firefox and on my pc. If I open up Chrome websites work fine. When I reset Firefox through the uninstall window, it works but if I close that and reopen it it is broken again. I am beyond frustrated and any guidance would be much appreciated.

Firefox recently updated on my Windows 11 desktop. As of yesterday (4/24/2026) and possibly earlier after typing www.facebook.com in the URL input space and hitting enter, no results at all.

'bold text' It will not allow me to go past the home page on large sites such as www.homedepot.com or www.costco.com . I get the following notification.

Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.costco.com/gasoline.html" on this server.

You're blocking me from a website that I've visited before called The-wealthsociety.com. Why and who gave you permission to block me?

The links in every browser are going to take you (redirect) to a half-dozen places you might not even know you're being dragged to, in order to follow a given link: Think a 'news' item, that is or isn't. 99 times out of 99 you will visit advertising, also a paywall, or whatever they call it this week.

All of this is a waste of my time, which why I think about clicking on anything, knowing that it'll likely NOT be what everyone else wants you to think it is. For those times that I have my brain on remote, I want a list that I've made myself that'll take my blind clicking out of the loop before the nonsense even starts.

My own personal White List.

I run the current version of Firefox (152.01) under Windows 11 Pro on a Dell Inspiron 15-3530 laptop. More and more frequently, I'm getting "Access Denied" messages when I click on a site link t56o an internal page. This happens on several sites, most notably Dell.com. I get the error in Troubleshooting Mode, and clearing the cache doesn't help. I've searched the information here, but all the responses seem to involve Windows 7 or Windows 8, not Windows 11. Can someone tell me how to resolve this situation in Windows 11?
