This started recently, maybe with a recent Firefox upgrade.

Normally, when you start typing in the Address Bar of a Firefox Window, a dropdown list of suggestions appears. Very helpful.

However, NOW, the dropdown list covers up the Address Bar so I can't see what I'm typing. I can still type, and what I type goes properly into the Address Bar, only I cannot see it. (See attached screensnatch.)

Do I have a switch in the wrong position, or is this a bug?

(I'm on 151.0.4 (aarch64), running under macOS Sequoia 15.7.3 on a MacBook Air M1, 2020.)

It used to be that when entering a search term in the search bar, you could use the arrow keys to select the search engine before pressing enter to make the experience entirely from the keyboard. Now, one must use the mouse to select the engine to be used. It also does not revert to the default search engine after executing the search.

I attempted to set *browser.urlbar.scotchBonnet.enableOverride* to false, and that did not work. I noticed that I had been involuntarily enrolled in an experimental study: Address Bar Update Rollout v1•rollout Address Bar Experience Update which may be the cause of this unwelcome behavior change. If exiting out of that study is possible to restore the previous functionality, please advise how to achieve this.

Please advise how to bring back this work flow efficiency.

I think I will just permanently turn off automatic updates because Firefox suggest has just turned itself on again. I want to retain my search and form filling history like I always do but not have it automatically appearing when I am searching something in the search bar. this is a matter of privacy and Firefox still makes the same mistake over and over again. I can't get an IT job but this guy who keeps making the same mistake every time, angering millions of users every update still gets to keep his??? And the most hurtful thing is, we cant even talk to the people who make it directly to tell them they are messing up, I am speaking to a guy who has nothing with making the damn thing, who is probably just going to tell me to delete everything, which defeats the purpose of keeping history on.

Hi, since the new update the shortcuts/search buttons on the smaller search box (desktop, windows) are gone, and I can't figure out how to get them back, nor can I find anyone asking about the same issue so far. It's happened on every device that's gotten the update. I added a screenshot so you know what I mean. There were always shortcut buttons under the textbox, so I can quickly search in google maps or wikipedia etc. but now there's only the dropdown menu. on the left. I used those buttons a lot so I definitely want those back! Thanks

Love Firefox by the way... So, autocomplete in the search bar is often helpful, don't get me wrong, but it redefines the delete/backspace key to be context-sensitive. Now, sometimes it does what I expect and backs up one, erasing the character I just typed. However when autocomplete ghost text is present, that same key removes the ghost text only, leaving the character I'm intending to remove. This is enormously inconvenient as I now must watch to see what autocomplete is doing and adjust my behavior to comply. Were I designing I would not make the delete key dual purpose context sensitive, instead I would do both at the same time! Delete what I just typed and remove the ghost text. Safari started this, I complained and of course got no response. Subsequently I noticed the same behavior in Firefox. My suggestion, request, is that search delete key behavior not be decided for me. Either make this Safari behavior a settings option, by default is OK, so that I can choose, or (my preference) delete both ghost and previous character with a single keystroke! I have a drop-down list on a website of things I regularly search for, but alas, some of them contain typos and I'd like to be able to re-order them. How can I do this on Firefox 146.0 (64 bit) under Linux?

When inserting text into the Firefox search bar, I am not able to dismiss the suggestions that pop up. I've tried disabling search suggestions (no luck).

These are things I don't want on my bar. Is there any way to remove them?

The options on which search engine to use used to appear at the bottom of the suggested search results, making it easy to start typing and then clicking where I wanted to search. Now they're in their own drop-down menu on the side, adding an additional click to access them. Is there any way to change it back?

The start.fedoraproject.org keeps showing up on my url. I don't have it pinned anywhere so I'm not sure how I can remove it.

I found 'chromeasia.com' autocompleting in the Firefox address bar upon typing 'ch'. I searched History for this and there was no sign of it. I cleared all history data, rebooted, ran a disk cleanup and find that 'chromeasia.com' stil autocompletes upon typing 'ch' in the address bar.

Any suggestions or advice on how to clear this would be warmly appreciated. Thanks. Stephen

Why do I have search results of pages inside my adress bar, that I almost never use?

This goes mainly for Reddit.com and Tagesschau.de, as im from germany this seems really strange?

The site mentioned is newssite (Tagesschau.de) controverial at best and I never use it. I have no idea why its there, in 1 year I probably got redirected to there without knowing twice.

So it cant be the most used sites iam on, especially if there is reddit too. I dont have an account and do not use the site. Since when does firefox has Ads in their adress bar?

What is this and how do I get rid of it? I doubt that it is one of the most used sites in germany, it cant be for alot of simple reasons. Age of the userbase does not fit with the Internet User group. 50% of the country does not like them (tagesschau page). Germany is in the IT Darkages except the tech savvy youth and generation 1980 to this day. This newsgroup is targeted towards an older generation and is still heavily invested in TV not the Internet. As it is statemedia its also highly out of touch with the current more internet focused generations, so I doubt that its because they generate traffic or anything else.

Is there a way do blank all search results on default? And I would really like to know how this page got there.
