When downloading pdf, html and other files I recently started getting an "Executable files may contain viruses or other malicious code" warning. This is annoying and definitely nothing I didn't know. Besides, many of these files were written by me, so this simply represents an additional annoyance in my workflow. How do I permanently disable this behavior?

On the entertainment media site Buzzfeed, clicking on a post of an embedded Twitter video gives me a blank white image. No error message like "Unable to play the file". I did a clear history, cache & cookies and refreshed Firefox. I ran the apt update for Ubunto. It had been operating smoothly in the past. If I go to Twitter, it plays. It just goes blank when I click on the video embedded in the post.
Thank you for any assistance.

Hi there, I run FF 73 on Lubuntu, and since the upgrade chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul is no longer found. I use it as a handy bookmarks and downloads manager within a tab. Error message:
"Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///usr/lib/firefox/browser/omni.ja!/chrome/browser/content/browser/places/places.xul. "
I realize that this question is similar to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1223548#answer-1127393 but it doesn't solve my issue. In fact the URI's listed also don't work I have found:
chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul chrome://browser/content/places/bookmarksSidebar.xul chrome://browser/content/places/historySidebar.xul
Please advise. Thanks for your help!

I am trying to add my own background to the home page but cannot find any way to do it. There must be an option for something so simple somewhere, but I cannot find it. I do not want to install an add-on for this as I am not comfortable handing out my personal info to some random guy or group to accomplish something so simple. Thanks.

I can't watch Amazon Prime videos using Firefox 76.0 - 32 bit on Linux Mint 19.3 - 32bit. I do appreciate that this became a long standing battle, judging by the archived material but has the towel now been thrown in? Root cause seems to be that the Widevine plugin has been withdrawn from Firefox and that being so, there must be a good reason.
When the question was archived with a tick was placed on the best answer. That the Widevine plugin can no longer be added from within Firefox, suggests to me that it is now game over. Am I being too pessimistic?
I don't want work-arounds that never seem to last long in this area, ideally I am looking for a permanent fix on the lines that Google will co-operate and promise not to move the goal-posts without supplying the information needed to Mozilla in order to update Firefox first, so that the Widevine plugin can be made available once again and all be covered under Linux updates.
An outright refusal in the above assessment, if correct, would at least demonstrate that the matter was political and that the solution to it is necessarily political too. Something that could likely gain traction in Europe at least.
Any reply welcome, thanks.

Happened once a while back but happened again today. Firefox Sync asked me to reconnect, which I did. After that reconnection, and even if "password" is checked in the parameters, all my passwords have disappeared. I do also have Firefox on my phone, which have all my passwords from before the first instance it occured, but it never synchronized to Firefox on my computer. No error messages appears when synchronizing, and everything seems to be normal. Any way to correct the non-synchronization of passwords ? Is there something I'm doing wrong ? Thanks.

I'm wondering: how can I revert this back to how it was? I don't want it to plump out since it partly covers up the surrounding UI elements. I have a muscle memory for sometimes minimizing this bar with Escape, then clicking one of my bookmarks or one of the UI elements. I haven't had an issue seeing the address bar before, so this new feature is a detriment to me.
Thank you

I have a network printer setup on Ubuntu 20.04 (an lpr printer). In every application, if I select control-P, the print dialog box immediately snaps onto the screen. But on Firefox 76.01, it takes at least 30 seconds for the print dialog box to appear. This is the case every time I select control-P. Printing works as expected, it just takes forever to get the print dialog box to come up. I have tried resetting Firefox and clearing all print-related preferences in prefs.j then restarted Firefox. Nothing seems to resolve this problem. I tried Chrome to see if all browsers were affected and it brings up the dialog box quickly. Has anyone else run into this issue?

Hi,
I'm trying to change the theme (only using standard dark and light themes) from a linux terminal. My attempted routes include changing a user.js file (the rest of the file works), in particular setting extensions.activeThemeID (I've also attempted doing this in about:config, as well as editing the extensions.json file).
I can change the theme by going to add-ons in a browser. This works fine. I was hoping to automate it (it's not the 1980's - clicking three times to change to a default theme seems unnecessary).
Am I missing something that must be changed in about:config or any other file to change the theme? The extensions.activeThemeID changes when changing the theme in add-ons and seems the likely option but does nothing if I change this value myself.

After creating a new virtual website with a letsencrypt certificate there was an error. This error is fixed. The certificate is valid and checked. When I go to the website, I get no errors. But Firefox does not load the css-files from a subdirectory. I go to the source of the page, click on the css-file : nothing happens. I copy the link location and paste it in a new tab. I get the errors: "Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead" "Error code: SSL_ERROR_BAD_CERT_DOMAIN" It seems, that Firefox remembers, that there was a problem. But this problem is solved. Accoring to ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html the certificate is valid. Chrome thinks the certificate is valid. Firefox thinks the certificate is valid, but not for a css subdirectory.
I cleared the cache of firefox with 'privacy and security -> clear data'.
'Privacy and security -> clear history when firedox closes' is set with all settings enabled, including 'Offline website data'. After restarting Firefox the error is the same. Is this a bug or do I overlook something ?
