I cannot sign into Discover Card when I use FireFox. I talked to Discover Card about it. They say the most frequent reason it happens is because Discover Card is not on your safe list. I tried signing in on my other PCs with a Ubuntu OS and their browser Opera works fine on signing me in. Within the last two weeks I installed Mint on two of my PCs. works great except for not being able to sign in to Discover Card. I am not having that problem on any other sites. I doubt if my cache is full as my usage being new OS has been minimal. I just tried signiing in with this PC after installing Mint yesterday. I get the same message

"We're sorry. Your request cannot be completed at this time. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue soon."

Discover wants to blame Firefox. Personally I think It has to do within the Mozilla VPN. I say that because I often had the same problem when I used McAfee's VPN. Discover maintains it has nothing to do with VPNs and it is a trust issue.

Eventually I want to replace Ubuntu with Mint. But I cannot until this problem is fixed. Opera is also running a VPN when I sign in so this would support Discover Cards theory about Firefox not having Discover on a safe list. I think they have it wrong though. If your site is blocked you are not on Discover's safe list. I wish we could get a meeting of the two minds instead of me trapped in the middle. Hope this helps.

So I have two Google accounts, let's call them Antelope and Bear. Antelope is my "main" account, but I use Bear for a lot of things too, which includes Gemini. So, if I want to use the Gemini chatbot option on Firefox's sidebar, it would make the most sense to use it under my Bear account, since that way I can access my previous chats and all that. However, when I open the Gemini chatbot, it automatically logs me in as Antelope. And when I click on the account's profile picture to swap to Bear, it instead opens the Gemini site on a new tab, in which I am indeed logged in as Bear, but the sidebar remains stuck on the Antelope account. I've tried the "reload Gemini" option, restarting Firefox, and clearing the cache, but nothing works. I think I could fix it by logging out of both accounts, then logging in only as Bear, letting the sidebar "grab" that account, and then logging in as Antelope, but I wanted to know if there's an easier/cleaner way to go about it. I am trying to find a way to restore the previous tabs that I had open. All the standard restore procedures out of the History button or elsewhere are not working due to the account change. Here's the background and scenario: Original account created 1 month ago on old Linux PC New PC purchased and Ubuntu Linux 24.04 installed Firefox installed and configured, bookmarks imported from .html file. No sync account was ever signed in to. Open a crapload of tabs that I wanted/needed to interact with (yes, I need a better task management system) Finally decide to log into sync account, successful sign-in Close browser for PC restart. Upon restart, all configurations from 1 month ago on old Linux PC are present, and no previously-opened tabs come back. Restore session/restore tabs/restore browser all are greyed out, no data to access in history anywhere. Signed out of account, closed browser window and restarted. Still displaying config from old sync account even when not logged in (different theme, toolbar settings)

I am unable to locate any files in the pathway Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox that clearly indicate multiple profiles; there is only one distinct profile folder present. I haven't cleared cache or anything, trying to not touch it more. Is it possible to restore or even see the URLs of those tabs from my session prior to logging in to my sync profile?

I've been using Firefox on Linux since it was Nautilus. Currently running EasyOS Linux Daedalus and Excalibur on different Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny Core i3-8100t boxes and different drives: A good Samsung SSD and two good flashdrives. 32G new RAM installed on each box. I've been using these boxes for over a year. For the last month or so, ever since updating to v. 146 my tabs have been crashing like crazy! I don't normally have more than 10 tabs open at once. But now, as soon as I open a 5th tab it crashes.

I'm running Top to watch CPU and RAM usage. I see nothing unusual. I've rebooted. Disabled all add-ons and run in Troubleshoot mode. Tabs still crash. My only add-ons are uBlock Origin, Temporary Containers and Dark Mode. It happens whether I have hardware acceleration turned on or off. I don't know what else to try. can I enable this function? can I cancel an "organization" intruding? I'm not in organization, it's my home private computer.

Hi! I recently had to reinstall Firefox. Logged into the same Mozilla account I've been using for several years, with pretty much the same config files I've been using since I switched to Linux, and suddenly--for the first time in at least a year--Firefox has (again) started trying to "fix" searches I put into the address bar that aren't prefaced with a search engine. How do I turn this off? (For example, if I go to the address bar and type in "cats" I get directed to a page like the first attached screenshot. If I type in "@google cats" I get directed to the second attached screenshot...)

I'm pretty sure I've disabled everything in prefs.js that relates to that. Um. Feature? But clearly I haven't been able to disable it yet! So.

This happens occasionally for many months. It is still happening on v147.0.1. I start the computer, open Firefox, and the browser loads previously viewed pages, including my Gmail account. The Gmail page has me already logged in, and I DID NOT provide my password! This has to be a big security risk. If some one were to use my computer, or it was stolen, they would have complete access to my Gmail and all Google properties! OS - Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) Kernel v6.1.0-42-amd64 Firefox v147.0.1 (and MANY previous versions)

As you can see in this screenshot, Firefox is constantly bugging me with this popup.

I am not able to find an option to disable it once and for all - and I am not able to set it up as my default browser (professional reasons).

It breaks an automation script that I am working on.

I use DuckDuckGo for my basic search engine on both my laptop (Ubuntu system) and iPhone 8. It does not work today - saying "There was an error displaying the search results. Please try again.", needless to say...I have tried a number of times and differed the searches to no avail. I also cleared recent cache/history. Still stuck. Searching on Chrome I see on https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40451490 that others are also experiencing this problem and do not understand it either - just a few entries

The Sun (a rather populist newspaper in UK) has an article saying it is international and happening today, 23 May 2024, suggests no fixes. (Not exactly a reliable source in my thing)

Has anyone ideas or should I just wait and use an alternative search engine meanwhile? Thanks for any help

When I open firefox for the first time or after reboot or logout the internet doesn't connect immediately and it need almost 1 minute or more. I tried so many solutions, but they didn't work. If I reset Firefox, then the problem is fixed, but after some days, it's the same problem.
