Refreshed FF, reloaded extensions, same problem. Uninstalled, reinstalled FF, reloaded extensions, same problem. Manually synced, same problem. I am using DuckDuckGo with Firefox because I do not like auto suggestions filling up the search bar while I type. It's so annoying. I have ensured that Settings do not have auto complete in any way, but still they come. The only solution I can find on this website, which is Stop Auto Search in Firefox

There is a preference to change that back, but it does take a bit of work to find it because of the unusual name: (1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk. (2) In the search box in the page, type or paste handoff and pause while the list is filtered (3) Double-click the browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.improvesearch.handoffToAwesomebar preference to switch the value from true to false Success?

I had no success with it at all. Please, how can I stop this wretched feature? Thanks.

When I updated from an old version of Firefox it erased all my bookmarks and there is nothing in 'Options' that allows you to designate current page as your opening page. And their incessant reminder to update is maddening! That's what got me into this predicament in the first place. I finally succumbed and I, like so many others are ever so sorry I did. I tried many searches to try to reinstall an older version of Firefox but all failed. They just end up reloading the updated version before you can open it. It sucks! If I can't load an older version like Firefox 71 I might as well get a new browser since I'm going to have to spend hours replacing my bookmarks and other stuff erased by the update. I won't use Firefox anymore and I won't use Google Chrome. I also noticed in other Firefox Support questions that people who were having problems with Firefox were asking for suggestions for alternatives to Firefox and nobody seemed to want to suggest any but I'll ask anyway. I just want a simple light weight browser that doesn't have all the whistles and bells that take up so much memory and I wouldn't use anyway. I don't do games and I don't do social media. After having used Firefox for many years I feel they have failed me leaving me with only 2 choices of either using their new version which I'm unlikely do or finding an alternative browser which I probably will. I would like some suggestions on alternative web browsers with user's experiences. And I'm using Windows 7. I have Windows 10 in another computer but found it to much too intense so I don't use it.

I AM SICK AND TIRED OF FIREFOX'S "HELP" PAGES CONSTANTLY REDIRECTING ME TO YET ANOTHER PAGE.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE OR REASON FOR MOZILLA'S FAILURE TO PROVIDE ACTUAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM AN EMPLOYEE.

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR FORCING PEOPLE TO USE SOME KIND OF RIDICULOUS FORUM TO ASK QUESTIONS FROM OTHER USERS INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL EMPLOYEE.

WHERE IS THE HELP AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT???? WHERE IS THE SUPPOSED FEEDBACK PAGE??? HOW DOES A PERSON ACTUALLY CONTACT FIREFOX???? WHAT'S THE PHONE NUMBER FOR MOZILLA OR FIREFOX??? THIS WEBSITE AND "CUSTOMER SUPPORT" NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

I have a web page which has a dropdown box. I accidently typed a wrong value. This value has been saved in dropdown's list. There seems to be no way of deleting it. It resides in the location shown in the attachment. I can find noway of doing this from within Firefox. I see the file is an sqlite file, but have no idea how to access or use such a file having never used that file type.

I am using a fully uptodate Windows 7 Ultimate and a fully updated Firefox on a 64 bit PC.

Help please!

I had a crash and the file for about:profiles is not there. It lists a possibility but it says it cannot locate the file (duh). I have a lot of tabs and I need them back. I look in the file locations and other than what the blank profile it is setting up there is only one from about two months ago in local and nothing old in roaming. When I use space sniffer it shows a large file size for what it is using for the current empty default file. It seems like the tabs are there but it is not accessing them. Any way to access those or the files if nothing else? I would rather not just use scrounger at this point unless absolutely necessary. It seems like firefox should have a default to save more than just one recent backup and it would help a lot with this kind of messup. Thanks for any ideas.

Starting today, for some reason when I access my bookmarks, I have to start from the very top of all my lists of bookmarks. In the past when I accessed a bookmark, and then a clicked on the bookmark tab to access ANOTHER bookmark, my bookmark list would show where I had left off from the previous bookmark within that list. Now when I access a another bookmark after I had accessed a previous bookmark, my bookmark list starts from the very top of it instead of where I was previously within that bookmark list. Being I have many bookmarks, it is a real pain to have to constantly scroll down from the top of my bookmark list every time to access another bookmark. This peculiar situation just started today. In the past this would NOT happen when I accessed my bookmarks. Can someone please explain and help me? Thank you.

Has anyone noticed that the Bookmark's / Daily Links 'pointer' gets reset to top of the list after selecting a bookmark?

Seeing this issue on a PC with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I.e. (Example only) Say a user has 100 bookmarks on main toolbar [many bookmarks saved under Daily Links or under the ">>" icon] ...and user chooses any stored link/bookmark, say for example, ...approximately link/bookmark #50; that tab opens okay. After doing so, maybe user chooses to open another link in same listing nearby-say #51 bookmark in a new tab browser window (multitasking etc.), ...often now, user gets put to top of said list, to bookmark#1 (especially after ) selecting a saved bookmark by clicking on either the ">>" icon or selecting "Daily Links".

In my experience with Firefox, this action never reverted back to top of either list prior to latest 110.0 update (64bit). I haven't tried issue to see if repeated on Windows 10 or higher yet. Appreciate any insight or bug solution to this scrolling issue using bookmark toolbars.

How to PERMANENTLY disable updates on all versions of Firefox from the latest backward.

Don't try and re-school us on allowing auto updates. Please allow us the choice. There are many people with many legitimate reasons for wanting and needing to turn this off and have it stay turned off. Those of us using various retro versions of Firefox also need this option. No further explanations needed!

Lets start with putting the choice to Never Update back in the options.

Worse yet, this program re-writes registry keys and options settings when the computer and/or program is restarted, so that the update options are changed back to the default auto install. This is causing problems on internal networks to the point of making the browser unusable.

What about time lost in having to turn this off each time the computer is restarted. For instance, if you are using a laptop in a limited data situation. You have turned this off previously. You shut the machine down for the night. In the morning you need to connect and do work and turn the machine on while you walk away for a minute because it's set to do mail and make connections to work network automatically. When you return, its stuck because auto updates are running. The internal work network connection times out and that system is locked up. So now you have to call IT. Morning lost.

As private users, not being able to turn this off permanently is making us stop using Firefox altogether. We want sovereignty over OUR computers. We paid for them and feel we can throw them out the window if we want! (I've done this many times.) Remember the customer being "right"!

Repeat after me. WE OWN OUR COMPUTERS! We are the final word on them! You need to understand that.

How about just a succinct answer on how to do this. "Anything less is uncivilized."

This problem is, most likely, seen in Denmark only, as MitID is a Danish security access.
