I can not understand why my laptop has suddenly decided to not download

when I download from firefox or save a picture from gmail firefox says failed

sorry I am a 73 year old dummie

For the last 1-2 weeks FF has started saving web photo files as .AVIF files instead of whatever extension the photo actually is online. I cannot find anything in the settings to change this. I am not sure if this was caused by an update, or something I did.

I am using Win 10 64, FF is version 95.0.2 (64-bit)

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

Hi, I don't understand what this means on task manager. My computer runs Windows 10. It lists "Firefox (41)" in the task manager with very high memory usage, although at the moment I have 9 tabs open. It doesn't change if I restart Firefox with fewer tabs. I've seen similar problems described elsewhere but I don't understand the solution given. I've seen something about finding "about:preferences" but I don't understand what that means. Is there a way to make this run better? Thanks.

hallo, I just changed my laptop, and have logged out of my firefox account from the old laptop, but I forgot the password to login on the new laptop, then I reset my password, and apparently all my bookmarks, my history is gone, can you help me? I really need it all because it relates to my work. please help me, thanks sir

Your Firefox browser now only operates two windows i.e. tabs. The third does not search but sits there and looks stupid. What is going on? I am using Windows 10. Should I change to a different browser? I have used Firefox since getting a computer years and years ago.

Ok, this might be REAAAAALLY weird that i'm talking about a firefox version that was released in 2012. But i really need it on this windows 2000 VM. The problem is firefox 9 - 12 is not loading any websites or webpages. It crashes instantly upon opening them. Versions lower then firefox 9 - 12 work flawlessly. Probably nobody will answer this but it is really important for my VM.

When I click on some sites that have images from Instagram, I get a link where it says I need to go to Instagram to view it however, before that link loads, for a split second, there is an option that appears in the same space that has a toggle setting for "always show images from Instagram" or something like that. I click on it if I am fast enough but it doesn't save the setting and it will show when I click 'Next' to the next image.

I can't find anything in the settings to change this and I am not on Instagram, nor want to be, and I do not want to change browsers... Any ideas?

Hi. I have Firefox ESR, which recently updated to version 91. I used an about:config command to get Print Preview back. (Namely, change print.tab_modal.enabled pref value from true to false.)

The problem is that -- unlike my old Print Preview -- its current behavior is to always fit a whole page to the screen at one time, which makes the font smaller and harder to read. I used to get, say half to two-thirds of the first page on the screen when scaling is left at the default of 100%. Sure that required more scrolling, but it was much easier on my eyes.

Is there a way to get back the old Print Preview behavior where Firefox was NOT shrinking to fit only full pages on each screen?

I use a web based program called Print Shop Pro at work and have always used Firefox as my browser. The updates are automatic and have never been a problem before. This morning after the update, the file generator in Print Shop Pro is now coming up landscape instead of portrait like it has always done, and there is no way we can change it.

We print shipping and job tickets together double sided, they have always come out portrait before. Now they come out landscape this makes them 4 pages instead of 2 and the 2 extra pages are either blank or have just a little bit on them.

How can we get them to generate in portrait layout again?

Hi....I'm fairly computer illiterate fyi....when it comes to problems and causes etc.

Out of nowhere yesterday, when I went into my yahoo email on my laptop (old Dell Inspirion 8 years old I think but works fine and takes a beating) a pop up bar at top of screen beneath task bar pops up and says that Firefox says this page is slowing down my browser and computer and gives me option to STOP it. Indeed...as soon as that message appears i can't do anything in my email....locks...freezes up. Other windows dragging at that moment. Once I close yahoo....rest slowly returns to normal. It's been 24 hours and I've shut it down, turned on again...ran my system mechanic as I do daily and Windows defender reports no issues. Yahoo email works fine on my phone....and this has never happened before.

• • • Machine seemed to be running slow a few days ago and I googled about that (before Yahoo issue) and learned about the task manager and how Firefox may run a bunch of shit eat up your ram? Mine showed 10 of them running?? But today during yahoo warnings and freezes it had 4 running.

I took a screenshot of it after writing this but even the time it took to do that froze me up this time so bad I lost all the windows including this post and i shut it down. Powered back up 2 hours later and it started normally and restored my session ( I was shocked this post in progress was still here lol.) So I immediately closed yahoo window to avoid issues and tried to upload the screenshot below. But Firefox said the "image was too large"....really? I crop it down and try again and it's just spinning below for 5 minutes...so forget it. Now I can't post this with that image upload spinning endlessly. (put profanity of choice here)

Anyone have any insight or help before I solve it my way? (That's usually when i lose my patience and throw it against the wall. :)

I am an elder person with the usual deficiencies of age - 86 years - and this is difficult to tell - I found it hard to see s since my first pc in 2003ome text on my screen here - and was given the option to choose DARK or LIGHT - I chose dark and this certainly improved matters on Firefox - because I have chosen firefox since my first pc in 2003 over night - last night - the themes have gone back to dark with all the attendant problems which I HAD before I chose LIGHT - can someone please tel me how to get light back I had volunteerd service but I do not think I have much to offer and that - too - is what I want to amend

Every time i try to log into pocket i get a error message "403". This just started earlier today 1-2-2022. The image upload / attach feature is not working either, it just loops.

I've been using Firefox for a long time, several years, and recently have been accessing some feature that looks like a password manager on my laptop, called Lock <something>--actually I'm not sure what it's called, because I can't seem to bring it up on its own to locate my password info.

I believe in password managers, and I'm trying to move over there, but I've run into a big snag on my mobile Android device... I have no idea how to bring up my Gettr account on my Android because I don't know where the password that I configured for my Gettr account on my laptop is located. I know it's inside the Firefox password manager somewhere... then I see Lockwise is no longer being supported.

Ultimately I want to synch whatever Firefox's latest password manager is to my Android, so that it functions like "whatever Firefox's latest password manager is" for my laptop. I'd like to synch my bookmarks, too. Can anyone point me to some simple instructions? Thanks. I'm using a primary password now for Firefox on my laptop. My email address is ...
