Why is layout.css.has selector.enabled false by default? Is there a way to enable this programmatically?
Explain how to prevent this problem from occurring. This doesn't happen if I use a Chrome browser for the same pdf. My OS is Linux.

This seems to have happened over several updates, so I can't pin point a particular update, and the problem has gotten worse (or at least affected more things) as time has gone on. I thought it might be related to uploading tabs when memory utilization has gotten high, but I have this problem on my system with 96GB of RAM, and I've happens even when I'm using under 48GB of memory and I've tried disabling tab unloading with no change.
The problem I've been seeing first started with Skype web. I'd walk away from my PC, and when I get back to it (monitor is asleep, but PC still running) after I wake up the monitor Skype would start playing messages it appeared to have cached while I was away. It would load up this messages one at a time, complete with notifications, one every couple of seconds. If I'd been away for a while and had gotten several messages it could take several minutes to catch up with where Skype is "current" and usually take so long I end up just reloading the page and so I get the current state without waiting for FF to play through all the messages.
I then started noticing the problem with OctoPrint, similar thing I'll have it up monitoring a print and I'll walk away from the PC and then come back, and same thing, it has to "play" through all the updates that happened while I was way from the PC, again sometimes taking several minutes for it to catch up with the current state for OctoPrint (this is usually visible by watching the temperature graph try and draw updates to catch up with where the printer actually is. During this time OctoPrint is completely unresponsive, so I'm unable to do things like cancel and print or change tabs to look at say the web cam. Again I'm usually forced to just reload the page to get the current state of OctoPrint instead of waiting minutes for it to catch up.
Then recently it's started doing the same thing with Pushbullet, instead of sending notifications as they come if I'm away from the PC, it just caches them when I wake the screen back up. And again, it sits there and plays them, one at a time, every couple seconds, every, last, message, that, came, while, I, was, away, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. I'm no longer getting multiple notifications at a time, they come through individually and it drives me insane (at sometimes delays notifications as even when I'm using the PC it no longer delivers notifications if I'm not actively using FF).
I assume it's some change to help make FF less memory intensive (which is why I first started looking at Tab Unloading) but I haven't had any luck finding out what's causing the issue, so trying to Google for a solution hasn't yielded any results (cause I'm not really sure what I'm looking for).
It's making using FireFox for "live" pages like message apps and OctoPrint, and notification syncing via Pushbullet unsustainable.
Thanks.

I very rarely reopen my apps because I also very rarely power off my laptop and use sleep mode instead (usually times between actual shutdowns are around a week). So ubuntu snap likes to update apps regardless of app being closed or not. And once in a while I get my firefox instance closed without me doing it, this would be fine if after reopening it all my tabs were in the same place (or at least I could restore them), but they all gone. I can't restore a session, I only have my history and have to reopen all of them manually.
Please don't tell me to use laptop like a normal person or that I can just listen to ubuntu warnings about updates and close software once in a while. The point is that I don't have this issue with other browsers (also using chrome and brave). If one of this counterparts shuts down unexpectedly it always suggests to restore your session on startup. I know firefox has this feature, but it seems to not work in this exact scenario.
firefox keeps asking me to open a site in container. how do I stop this annoying questions? thank you

Due to some unknown reason from today morning whenever I use paste function, my Firefox crashes and quits. It includes pressing ctrl+v, right click and paste, and edit>paste. It occurs in all webpages and not only with texts, but also when I try to copy/paste for example a bookmark.
My browser is up to date, I rebooted several times, and also opened Firefox in Troubleshoot mode. But the crash still happens.
Does anyone have any idea what the reason of this problem is and how I can fix it?
Whenever I type in text in a forum post, Firefox adds one or two extra returns each time I hit the Return key. This happened with the last FF update.

After upgrading one machine from Fx 110.0.1 to Fx 112.0.1 (as per usual with "major" upgrades with the full install file) I noticed very high CPU usage when closing Fx, and it took quite some time to settle. I upgraded it to 112.0.2 via Help-About, but saw the same issue.
That is, starting Fx, opening a "private browsing window" and visit some site, say a search engine, then closing the private window and finally the first Fx window. (At the time I also see some spikes in CPU usage from the firewall software etc.)
Since I can’t have it like this, computer almost stalling for 30 sec, after closing Fx, and to see if there would be any update later to solve this issue, I uninstalled Fx 112.0.2 (I have complete backups of Fx profiles), and, just as a test, reinstalled Fx using the prior version of setup that I had, Fx 110.0.
Of course this meant a clean profile, not what any user wants to see (missing bookmarks is almost minor compared to all settings, incl. in add-ons, gathered over time. So I used the profile manager to change to my previously used default profile. After a restart I was greeted with a prompt that this couldn’t be done (since it may corrupt bookmarks(?) etc.) and I was left with the only options to abort (cancel) or create a new profile. Oh, great. I had not even used the newer ver. (Fx 112) to change or create anything, but I assume Mozilla could have something between the different versions.
So, I uninstalled Fx 110.0 (and of course in the process of creating a new profile/resetting settings it had reverted to "download updates in background", and I had to change that setting back, and stopped what was pending, during my tests trying to move it to my old profile). I installed Fx again, using the setup file for 112.0.1 and did a direct upgrade to 112.0.2, and pointed it to my old default profile, which had been used with 110.0.1 and during the first upgrade to 112.0.1.
Fx is working with my profile again, but it takes a very long time to close and (perhaps together with other software) consumes a lot of CPU, almost stalling the PC. During one such situation this morning I got two prompts for XULRunner "Could not determine any profile running in background task mode!" Never seen before. (I noticed that there now is a new folder in Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\ called "Background Tasks Profiles".
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I use multiple desktops on Windows 10; usually between two and four at a time. Each of those desktops has multiple Firefox windows open.
Whenever I restart my computer (which is not often but it happens) Firefox restores all the previously opened windows onto a single desktop, leaving me to sort out the mess. Firefox also re-opens windows/tabs recently stashed using the Tab Stash extension.
Is there anything I can do to make sure Firefox remembers which windows belongs on which desktop, and to keep stashed windows closed?

Hello everyone! I am new here, and this is my first question. So, please help me out and leave an answer for me. I would really appreciate it if you did so.
I was at the Firefox settings, and on the location permission settings, there was a web address requested my location and it started with "moz-extension://." I can easily guess that it is from the Mozilla Extension, but I was curious and wanted to know what it was and where it came from exactly. But I wasn’t allowed to copy and paste. Therefore, I am asking you guys. I have only been using the Firefox browser for a few days, so my knowledge about it is like a blank sheet of paper, and you guys are welcome to write anything and everything on it, and I will learn from it. So, please come and give me a helping hand. Thank you.
For your references I have attached the web address in question. I think I have to either allow or not allow permission rather quickly. Thank you.

I'm having problems with message board posts, and they said the problem was browser related rather than on their end. And I don't really have the vocabulary to look up a solution, so I'm asking here.
When I'm writing a post in a text box-- and I don't know if it's supposed to be called a text box, but it's shorter than "that box at the bottom of the thread where you type your post and then hit enter"-- if I go to a different page, when I come back, the text box is (inconsistently) blank. Everything I was writing is gone.
This was not the case up until a few days ago. If I needed to, say, post links to a bunch of threads, I could go to each thread in turn, copy the URL, and then back-arrow to the page with the post-in-progress and everything would be there waiting for me. I could be fifteen pages out from where I started, but as long as I used the back-arrow, it would be fine.
Like I said, I made a bug report on the message board itself and they told me "That's not a function of site, it's a function of your browser. If it's changed, it's because your browser has updated (or an extension is interfering)". I also talked to a friend to try to narrow down the problem and he came up with "it's probably a cache issue".
So where do I go from here to try to fix things?
