Need some help with Firefox crashing. System: Windows 8.1 64 Bit instilled on a Samsung SSD, 24 GB free space, 24 Gigs RAM, Firefox installed on conventional HDD (G:\) drive, 1.03 TB free space. This has been the standing configuration for many years, working with no problems.

Problems began with FF update 111.0. Any attempt to download files (.jpg or .pdf) would cause the “save” button to freeze, and after a seconds FF would crash. If an attempt was made to change a setting FF would again crash so quickly it was impossible to attempt any changes. Oddly enough, FF update 111.0.1 fixed the issue (or so I thought) and things returned to normal. I assumed whatever caused the problem had been fixed.

Unfortunately, every update beyond 111.0.1 reverts back to the same freezing and crashing behavior. I have attempted the following with all updates above 111.0.1 in an effort to correct the issue. So far nothing has worked. BTW, Brave and Chrome work just fine.

Cleared out all cache and cookies. Changed download folder Opening in safe (trouble shooting) mode Clean install(s) Disabled hardware acceleration. Putting the entire program on C:\ drive (apparently the newer FF installer does not allow custom installations any more). Checked and updated all drivers

Currently I have disabled automatic updates as none of them have the same freeze/crash issue. I am out of ideas and would certainly be glad to get any advice. At this point Brave is going to be my new default browser. Yes, I know 8.1 is no longer supported but I am not in a position to replace this PC at the moment.

I've installed a new version of Ubuntu Linux and - as recommended on this page's FAQs - backed up my firefox profile, than copied it into the profile folder on the new os. Now Firefox tells me "You've launched an older version of firefox" and forces me to create a new profile :( Also loading the old profile in "about:profiles" leads to the same result

How can i restore at least my passwords? (When i try to copy only 4.db and logins.json from the old to the new profile, i get the same result)

I can't find an "import old profile"-function anywhere...

Since a week now we experience slowness in Firefox on the internet at work.

All other apps on the network work fine.

Nothing has been changed on the network setup according to IT, is they have no clue I think. Any tips where to look, what to test?

Over the last year, I am having trouble using FF on government web sites. When I click on a link, FF browser does not sync. Such as my last email when they sent me a link to take a survey. I click on take survey FF never opens the site. When I switch to chrome, it works fine.

It is really frustrating since I prefer FF but having to go to another browser is confusing.

Any ideas? I will gladly send you the email.

In the attachment I've send you the bug, it's happening all the time. Most times while writing something down, or just casually using GitHub website. I want to report this bug 'cause it's a little bit annoying.

Using noVNC to access a wired LAN host on Linux using Firefox v111 uses ~5% CPU on an AMD 5600X. Upgrading to Firefox v112 causes CPU utilization in the exact same use case to jump to ~35% with spikes over 70%. Additionally the responsiveness drops dramatically, and is difficult to use. I've tried a completely new profile with the default settings, and the results are the same. I've reverted back to v111 for the moment.

Hi, Am backing up a laptop that needs to go overnight to a repair shop and want to wipe it clean for privacy. Will the passwords saved by firefox be saved in the backup as well?

I've also downloaded them to a csv file as an additional precaution, but have no idea how to reload them into 'saved passwords' after the repairs are complete, as no option is provided for that - only the option to import from another browser... Thanks for your help!

PS: also, why does mozilla require a manual login to this support forum when my login is saved in it's own password saver?? It is not auto-filling it as expected.

Hello, With the latest Firefox update I lost the LastPass add-on, and Firefox will not let me install in again. I get the message "LastPass: Free Password Manager could not be installed because Firefox cannot modify the needed file." Can you help me with this please?

On my early 2009 iMac, the drop down search engine selections in the tool bar search bar flicker on and off and will only appear stable to be selected a search engine if the Command key is held down.

Calendar has 22 categories and an option to add Custom Categories. However, any custom categories I have added whilst editing an entry only seem to get saved in that entry, not in the list. If I need to use that category again I have to enter it again - every time! It seems logical to me that adding a category means it gets to stay in the list and I'd also expect that it would then be sorted apha-numerically.

Is it possible to edit the category list somewhere in FF?

Until recently, I was able to print and create PDF from Mozilla browser. I can only create a PDF if I select the printer option Microsoft to PDF. For the past few weeks or so every time I try to do so the following gibberish appears in a notebook. See below:

I signed into mozilla firefox on my father's computer at his home. I was visiting for the week and forgot my laptop. I logged his firefox account, then signed in with my details. Now I am seeing all of my father's login credentials when I am logged in to my firefox account at my home. I am not sure how it happened but I would like to not see my father's credentials for every website. Thank you.

I have used Firefox for many years, on a Windows 10 64 bit desktop with DuckDuckGo Search engine. Two websites I subscribe to will not let me use firefox to sign in using Firefox. However Microsoft Edge allows me to sign in. WHY do I have a problem using Firefox?

Do some of my settings need to be changed?

I loaded Firefox yesterday using Firefox Installer.exe

The installer loaded to my laptop with Desktop Icon Target "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" This has my bookmarks and personalizations, and is synched with the Firefox on my Tower computer in another room

Now my laptop has another Destop Icon Target "C:\Users\FEDER\AppData\Local\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" This firefox browser is new and has none of my bookmarks and personalzations. It is not synched.

My Apps shows only 1 Firefox installed, and it will not uninstall.

How do I remove both of these firefox browsers, remove firefox from Installed apps, so I can load a clean version?

This is frustrating.

Yesterday I updated my mac mini OS to 13.3. From that time, when I use my home pod mini (airplay), firefox does not work on the sound.

I tried youtube and twitch, but neither sounds nothing when I turned it on with home pod mini.

I think it is a problem with firefox with up-to-date version macOS. It's because other browsers make sounds well such as Safari.

so I've reinstalled the windows on a new drive. I've downloaded the amazing Firefox. I've logged in, all bookmarks got synced, but all but 3 passwords are missing. How can I get them back?

Every time I open Firefox and go to You Tube my You Tube settings are gone. I hate that so much. How do I fix it? I don't want to redo the settings every time. I have it so all my tabs are still there when I open Firefox. That is perfect, I love that. But my You Tube settings are always cleared. It is so annoying. I never watch You Tube videos on Firefox anymore because of it.
