I don't know why, it is NOT Ancestry, as I can sign in to it on other browsers. I get this error message below.

I have no idea what security rules, but I am working on a genealogy project and have never had a problem signing into Ancestry in multiple tabs before today. How do I fix this? Besides getting rid of Firefox, I mean. I have the same security extensions on this browser as I use on Vivaldi, Brave and Chrome - I avoid Chrome, but use Vivaldi and Brave regularly, along with Firefox.

There are multiple screenshots attached below, 2 of them showing setting marked in red. Those settings are pre-configured with the firefox.cfg file. I would like to also pre-configure a list of other settings. You can also find those other settings below.

Anyways, i remember someone from this forum told me there is no "official documentation" for the firefox settings which are listed in about:config. Is there an "inofficial documentation"? If you could reply with the exact setting that i have to change according to the screenshot attached below that would be awesome, otherwise an URL for some sort of documentation would be welcome..

Basically all the setting i want to change exists and can be manually edited using the firefox settings, but theoretically could be easily pre-configured with the firefox.cfg.

All i need are setting-names/ids.

A few days ago, I tried to have one window for private mode and one for public. For Private mode, I used settings for custom history and Always use Private browsing Mode. Somehow, it didn't work. I'm old and forget a lot of what I did. I reinstalled FF a few times, to no avail. So did uninstall and told them why, and that I planned to be back in a few days. Also, I uninstalled the Maintenance program first. I went to EDGE, but really hate it, so I downloaded FF now. Set for Private browsing. But it doesn't work. Keep getting public browsing. Even if I select it on taskbar icon, no luck. Don't see the purple glasses or whatever they were. I really like to use private mode.

I can sure use some advice.

I added a few sites I frequently visit, such as banks, credit card company Google, to the exceptions list in Cookies And Site Data. When my version of Firefox was recently updated to 102.0.1, a few of those sites began asking for additional authentication because they didn't recognize my computer. So I added the recommended add-on, Cookie Quick Manager. and listed those sites as protected. This worked for a few days but Google and my credit card company again don't recognize my computer. I am not using a VPN.

Until recently, I was able to have Firefox automatically clear all my cookies at the end of a session, EXCEPT for the cookies for websites that I had specified. This was possible by:

• Checking the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" option under `Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data`
• Setting the websties that I would like to keep cookies for, under `Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage exceptions`

Now, I simply can no longer use this feature. If I try checking the "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" option, then quitting Firefox, it seems to insist on unchecking the box, then changing another section of my privacy settings. Namely the `Privacy and Security > History > Clear history when Firefox closes` section becomes checked, and inside, `Cookies` is marked as something to be cleared at the end of each session. This is unhelpful, because checking the box here means that any exceptions I set in the aforementioned section is not respected, and ALL cookies are deleted.

Am I doing something wrong? If there is a way to get it back to how it used to behave, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mozilla,

Yes I did try in Safe mode and that worked until logging off and then restarting FireFox.

Since the most recent FireFox update Safe Mode no longer works.

I can still login to the site and perform some rudimentary tasks but when I want to edit/view a payment I get the error message as posted.

If I use my Tablet to login I have no problem although the Tablet uses Chrome and not Firefox.

I can try the tablet with FireFox and report back.

Is their a log file or setting list that I can send that will help.

Hello! This is probably one of those intrusive facebook things I won't be able to stop, but when I open messenger in Firefox, it prompts me every! single! time! to download messenger for windows, which I very much don't want to do. It does it via a box over my messages that I have to physically click away. I already have pop-up windows disabled for every site. I went to permissions-- notifications but it wouldn't let me add messenger. Is there anything I can do?

I've been using Firefox browser for Facebook and other online purposes for several years. Over much of that time I periodically (several times per week, minimum) get a small pop-up box, usually while I'm on Facebook, which is headed "Apple wants to make changes. Enter your password" The "USERNAME" box shows only my first name, John, (which is my admin password for the laptop) and the "PASSWORD" box is empty. No indication of what changes Apple wants to make, so I've never put my password in, and when I hit "cancel" I have to cancel three times before it goes away, only to show up sometimes within minutes, or sometimes days. Until today I'd not been able to get a diagnosis from Apple, but their help person, after a screen-sharing session today said it doesn't come from Apple and she suggested I contact Firefox Support and ask about it. So I'm asking. The screen shot below shows what it looks like, although I closed Firefox before i took this screen shot, just to see if the box would remain, and obviously, it did. Last Saturday, I was able to sign in to Firefox Add-Ons Firefox Add-Ons and submit a pre-release of an add-on I'm working on. But today, I'm being forced to enable 2FA to simply log in to the site. I don't want to enable 2FA, I just don't need it. Can someone explain me why is this happening ? Can I just log in and submit my add-on's update ?

I've tried to sign in two different MacBooks (M1 12.1 and Yosemite 10.10.5), using two different Firefox versions (99.0.1 and 78.15.0esr). Also, I haven't enabled 2FA in my personal account.

I have installed Z-Scaler proxy root CA certificate in Firefox for enabling SSL inspection. It works fine for most websites, but for google.com and a few others I get every day a certificate invalid/not trusted error and I have to restart Firefox to get the error to go away. Any ideas of what I can do to improve this behaviour? Any configuration I missed?

Hi, I am trying to understand why my exceptions (blocked web sites) keep deleting and or when I delete cookies the exception are also removed? I apply several web sites to be always blocked, but every time I go back to add another or check. They have been removed. Also if I tick the delete cookies when closed. That also deletes the exceptions. Why would it do this?

Why on earth would I continue to re-enter the same several exceptions every time I open Firefox?

Am I missing something else in the settings? And yes I always click on save changes.

How can I get a list of all the sites that are set to "always open" in a specific container? For example, I want to see a list of all the sites set to always open in the Work container. I would also like to edit the list without needing to manually visit each site.

If i remember correctly Mozilla earns around 80% of their income from Google. I have said it before and i will say it again, Mozilla claims to stand for Privacy (maybe that was true in the past at some point) while Google is tracking Billions of Human beings 24/7 as they use Google as their Android Operating System, that can be considered very much anti-privacy. I have tried adding an exception for this site's cookies in Settings, and I've also tried turning off enhanced tracker, but the site still doesn't work. Is there a way to tell what is broken and then fix it? Thank you.

Apparently my firefox updated yesterday ( aug 9 2022), it now shows I'm running 91.12.0esr. However it now says I can't use my old profile, stating: "Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history already saved to an existing Firefox profile..." So, how do i go about retrieving all of my passwords and get them into the new profile?
