Hi, on my new PC with Windows 11 Firefox shows "save as" window after the download is complite. How can I change it so that this window appears before download starts?

I have windows 10. Every time I download a file and then go to open it, I get "File Download-Security Warning" this is new and never got that before. How do i eliminate the warning . This only happens when using Firefox..Chrome works fine. I have tried everything and changed more setting in the registry that i can count and have asked Perplexity and Grok plenty of questions with no positive results.

Since around April 2026 , the "Show in folder" option (in "Display the progression of ongoing downloads") does not work anymore when a file is downloaded on a NAS drive . I use a Qnap TS-231P NAS .

Its REALLY annoying that I have to manually go to my downloads every time I download a pdf to move it to the correct folder. Especially when I already have Firefox set to "always ask" when downloading a file. I don't need EVERY thing I download to go to a specific folder. I sort things as I download them. Its just REALLY annoying that Google does this ONE thing so much better and Firefox used to allow me to save things wherever I wanted them every time I downloaded. Super freaking annoying.

I run Win10, and Firefox recently updated. I use https://partners.titantv.com/default.aspx as a TV guide for my Hauppauge TV tuner card. When I click on a program I want the PC to record, I click the red dot, which creates a program.tvpi file in my Downloads folder (see image attached). Up until recently, this type of file was associated so that clicking the red dot would automatically put it into the Hauppauge recording queue. However, the latest Firefox upgrade took that association away. So, now I have to double-click the program.tvpi file in the Downloads folder to activate it. Is there a way to re-associate it? I tried right-clicking the red dot, but there's no choice. I didn't see it in the Firefox, Settings, General, Applications feature. Thank you for the help.

Firefox does not ask where to save downloads. They are simply saved automatically and then opened.,

1. I have no idea where a PDF was saved to when it opens.

2. When it is open (it opens in Foxit Reader), I can not delete the PDF. (aside: I consider this is flaw, but that is Foxit Reader's problem, not Firefox's. Or, is it really?)

I want downloads save to the same place ALWAYS or I want the option to ALWAYS specify where to save a download.

How do I achieve that goal?

Firefox often, though not always, is very slow to download files, and when this occurs, I am unable to search by others tabs etc. I can download the same file using Edge on the same computer "instantaneously". Firefox returns to normal operation ~ 10 seconds after I cancel the download.

I unsuccessfully attempted to search for solutions.

Since the latest version (152.0), right clicking on a file link, select Save As... and with the popup with the filename and saving location being OK just hitting <Enter> doesn't do anything anymore. I now have to specifically click the "Save" button (or use <Alt>+S) to get my file saved. This is highly annoying as my muscle memory gets in the way all the time. Please get the original behavior back. Just found out the same behavior is with file upload.

I have a Bug (in my opinion), that if select Settings --> Downloads "Files and applications - Choose how Firefox handles downloaded files and content." e.g. for PDF -> open in Firefox (P1.png), and I click on a PDF-Link, the File opens in Firefox and is not downloaded (P2.png). In the Settings if I select the Action "Always ask" (P3.png), click on the PDF-Link and choose "Open with Firefox" (P4.png), the File get downloaded too (P5.png). So it is open with Firefox and save File? I think this Action is not wanted.

Hello, Today i was working on a friend laptop, i was using the private browser while i was downloading a very sensitive files, after closing the private window i couldn’t find the files is that normal? I get emails with attachments that I often can't open. I am very NON-tech savvy. It seems jpg opens fairly easily. I got a statement that opened easily, but MANY photo attachments with only "?" - no "jpg" - asked me where to file them, how to name them. I don't know before seeing the attachment. It bothers me to have to call service providers repeatedly and ask them to send things in different formats. Google tells me I can set Mozilla preferences to always open automatically, but now, with AI, I got redirected. Your help will be appreciated!

I downloaded a syllabus from my online class but I can not open the file a drop box appears and asking what should firefox do with the file. I attached a screenshot of what happened when I attempted to open file. Can you please help me with this issue?

I recently migrated from Chrome to Firefox. As you can see on the screenshots, I have on Chrome the possibility to download the video I am playing by clicking the three dots. This button is not displayed on Firefox. How can I solve this issue. Deactivating Ublock doesn't change anything.

Hello - downloads have started on my Mac desktop - do not know what they are - and they seem to be ever 4 hours. I have attached a screenshot of my download file. Any advice would be appreciated.

Why does Firefox take wild guesses at what folder I want something save to. I just downloaded 108 files to the same folder and Firefox never caught onto where I wanted to save these files. It just kept pitching randome "default" folders all over my computer. How can this possibly be a desirable behavior?
