I realise any privacy or user control statements made by Mozilla are really a farce. One, there's no meaningful way to protect user privacy these days, not on the web. Trying would be a more accurate term. Two, the CEO is in control of the product design and he's banking on customer loyalty, betting on an outcome where people will just continue to use the product regardless of how bad the new AI features are or how much they contradict the company's supposed ethos. And it'll probably work for a spell, but here's the thing: free clones of Firefox already exist, and customer loyalty only goes so far. It won't be terribly convenient, but if I continue to see Mozilla adopt AI in its updates, I'll just switch over to something else.

I had switched to Firefox some time ago because of the privacy-invading AI that Google and Microsoft were implementing at the time, and it appeared Mozilla had their consumers' interests in mind when it came to privacy and performance. I suppose even they are willing to shoot themselves in the foot with the market failure that is generative AI, despite the recent reports about Copilot's abysmal sales proving that this maneuver is incredibly short-sighted.

Not only are these AI "features" enabled by default upon updating, the options to disable each of them are all hidden away in the about:config page. On top of that, having these options enabled leads to worse performance overall, and the breach of privacy inherent to these features is quite worrisome as well.

The best step now is to remove these features completely. If Mozilla won't remove them, they should at least have them disabled by default, making them opt-in as opposed to the opt-out situation currently in place. Perhaps they could be listed as proper options somewhere in about:preferences so that people don't have to comb through the about:config list?

I know I would appreciate not having to switch browsers again, and I'm sure plenty of users would like to have their privacy respected as well. We don't want to see this browser become as terrible to use as other big-name brands. If Mozilla keep pushing these invasive features, we will find something else to use.

see what appears when I open firefox as an uploaded image: has anyone else had this appear... can not find a way to report what in my view is fraud...'AI' said no new terms,conditions,privacy by firefox, mozilla since spring so is it a 'page overlay' as 'AI' said? also I can not find a way that will open to report to mozilla, can some one forward to report fraud?

If there only one question I get an answer to that would be: how can I delete it and block it forever?

A pop-up screen often appears when I use Firefox. It says hat I have a virus and that I need to call a phone number to remove it. It claims to be Norton,but I doubt that it ts. I have attempted to remove this with Microsoft Defender, SuperAntiSpyware and Trend Housecall but none of them work. Can you help me?

Since several days every time I visit a webpage I see that there is a popunder from syscsrv.com!

What can I do to stop this?

I am running windows 10, firefox 148.0.2 (64-bit) and when signing onto amazon.com I am greeted by this annoying pop up. Screenshot attached,

"Windows Security Making sure it's you

Please sing in to amazon.com This request comes from Firefox, published by Mozilla Corporation"

I do not find a need for this pop up and would like to know how to disable it. If you know how, please let me know!

When the browser is open - whether with tabs or not - it disables NVIDIA ShadowPlay. The NVIDIA overlay says “a protected app is preventing desktop capture,” and I’d agree with that if it only happened when tabs with DRM content were open, but it happens even in an empty browser.

bold text I am getting a flood of messages about viruses from McAfee and Monzilla Firefox ESR. Not sure if these are real or a scam to click on a link. Need some help in how to stop messages or find out if my laptop is infected with viruses.

I started getting a different login screen for yahoo and so I was on the lookout for the https:// that would ensure I'm at a real website. I noticed that I don't get any https:// on anything in my FF esr 140. Even if I enter it with the address, it disappears as soon as I click to open the website. I tried out Edge and the https:// is there. Is there some reason this is being removed in FF, as it is something reassuring and doesn't take up much space.

This past Friday morning, May 29, I tried to access www.healingwell.com which I have always been able to do. But this time Firefox gave me a red screen with message: "Firefox blocked this page because it might try to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience, for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit." And same message again over the weekend. But yesterday, Monday June 1, I was able to access that website, and all seemed normal. Why did Firefox give me that message on Friday, but not yesterday or today?
