Firefox has stopped saving history and I am unable to save any bookmarks. This seems to have happened recently for no reason I can understand. I haven't made any changes. I use a VPN but was doing so before this happened. I have checked all the settings and also deleted the places.sqlite file. When I click <bookmark current tab> nothing happens and history shows as empty.

Is it possible to combine history/bookmark files? Firefox has truncated my "History" to 15 days and the only option I see to get elder entries is to combine a backupped history file with the current one. An easy-to-use tool for this task would be welcome. I did not change my config options after the update to 121.0.1 (64-Bit) (Windows 10pro) but I think I had the total history (from years) before the update. My current Options related to this topic are: browser.history_expire_days false places.history.expiration.max_pages false places.history.expiration.transient_current_max_pages 501234 privacy.clearOnShutdown.history false privacy.history.custom true history (*) Boolean Number String

Problem that's been going on for MONTHS now - when I use the bookmark manager to sort out my bookmarks, it will often 'drop' them a few lines above or below where I wanted to place them. Trying to move the misplaced bookmarks just means chasing them around the page with them NOT going where I want them, and often moving other bookmarks OUT of place. The only workaround I've found is to kill the manager and reopen it - but this often has to be done SEVERAL times to fix the problem, and it can happen again minutes later on another bookmark. Given I had to give up on the drop down bookmark toolbar because it reverts to the top of the list EVERY TIME I try to use it, I have been using the manager to access everything. The fact that it also doesn't work correctly is making me INCREDIBLY frustrated with your product. Do you have a fix, or should I ditch Firefox and find a better browser?

I get errors when importing my bookmarks from one laptop to another. I've tried importing HTML file and restoring from JSON file multiple times with multiple files. The bookmarks are not saved in any folder including the "imported bookmarks" folder. This is frustrating... Could you please help with this simple task?

I had to sign out of the browser and when i signed back in (like i have many times before) all my bookmarks and passwords were gone. not sure how to contact Firefox IT but can someone please help me with this?

While trying to add my existing bookmarks (from previous computer) I get message - SSL_ERROR_INTERNAL_ERROR_ALERT

Please tell me what to do. I cannot find any reference to this message.

I have used Mozilla and Firefox for over 20 years now and thoroughly enjoyed it - but have never had and problems of this nature.

An account was opened in Firefox with this Gmail account: pmkamirul@gmail.com In which the user and password of different accounts were saved. Today 28.01.24 due to Windows problem on my laptop, I set up new windows again and installed Mozilla Firefox and tried to open the Mozilla account but it took about 15 minutes because I did not give the correct password. Later I reset the password and opened the Firefox account with the new password 01714303182 but even when the Firefox account was opened, nothing saved previously came back. Please help me to recover my previously saved data.

I thought I had two different accounts. Home, with my personal email and work, with my work email. My work computer crashed a few months ago, and out IT department was able to recover all my bookmarks, but it wasn't easy, so I was told. I decided to do what I do at home and that was to create an account for work, which I did. I now have an account for home with it's own bookmarks, and email, and a work account with it's own bookmarks and totally different email. I recently got a work phone. In the process of setting it up I synced it up with my work account. when I came home tonight I got online and all my work bookmarks were on my home computer. How did this happen? Now I don't have my home bookmarks. I tried signing out and signing back in with my home account, but no luck. This is very frustrating especially since they are two totally different accounts. SO, how do I get my home bookmarks back on my home computer? Thanks

Something changed very recently, probably that new update. There are passwords and all manner of info I can't find....

I am missing MANY bookmarks I had in Firefox. Where did they go?

Can I somehow restore the previous version if necessary to recover them?

I restarted my PC (reinstalled Windows) and then downloaded Firefox. Previously I had important bookmarks, but I didn't save them anywhere (stupidly). Can I restore these somehow? Does anyone know that? I am grateful for every tip!!!

I searched the forums, and it appears this issue has answers going back 12 years.

Answers explain how to get it to show up again. Basically, it amounts to turning the bar off and back on again.

The problem is it WILL happen again. Why? It's been 12 years and no explanation as to why it happens or how to fix it permanently.

None of the Firefox updates over the years have addressed this either.

Hi, Folks. When I open "manage bookmarks" (Library), why does it always open at "other bookmarks"? This is at the very bottom of the alphabetical list (and empty) so I always have to scroll back up to the top. I've got a lot of bookmarks, so this is extremely irritating. How do I change this? I've searched for an answer. The only likely solutions suggest removing the "other bookmarks" folder, but the description of how to do that doesn't work. Nowhere can I find a "remove other bookmarks" option. And the delete option is greyed out.

I don't necessarily need to hide or remove it, as long as I can get the bookmarks manager/Library to open at the top, ie. "Bookmarks Menu".

synced a new computer, old one has an underscored star w/bookmarks, new computer did not bring that over, it brought over other bookmarks. can something be done to bring that over?

MY BANKING IS HANDLED THROUGH A CERTAIN CREDIT UNION. THE CREDIT UNION HAS SECURITY FEATURE THAT YOU ARE COMPROMISING BY RECORDING A SPECIFIC PAGE AS A BOOKMARK "post login script page's should never be eligible for automatic bookmarking to a home page." This should never be done as that page becomes a shortcut to my bank account! THIS CREATES A SECURITY ISSUE for me as I could be locked out of my bank account. Some sensitivity and a bit of common sense is called for here!

Additionally; I have an Amazon Account and want my bookmark FOR AMAZON to remain at The Sign-in page. However, you opt to delete my bookmark for an advertising bookmark that does not take me to an Amazon Login. This creates an inconvenience and a problem.

One more item: I do not use any on-line tax preparer. NEVER! I do not use Turbo-Tax, H&R Block, or any other tax preparation service. MY BOOKMARKS GET DELETED SO YOU CAN PLACE AN ADVERT ON MY HOME PAGE THAT IS NOT JUST UNWELCOME BUT A SERIOUS INCONVENIENCE.

At some point in the winter of '21 I created a folder of bookmarks that was saved in the 'bookmarks menu'. At a later date, hard to say when but probably '22 or early '23 I deleted these bookmarks. I now desperately need to recover them.

The oldest auto-backup from 'Manage Bookmarks' -> 'Import and Backup' -> Restore is dated mid '23 and does not contain the deleted bookmarks.

Is there any hope of recovering them? For example via the Recycle Bin or by using a data recovery tool? Or will they have been overwritten?

Up to several months ago when I tried to bookmark a website or YouTube video I had previously bookmarked a dialog box would come up asking if I still wanted to bookmark the website or YouTube video. What ever happened to that feature. I really liked it. Or is it a case changing some kind of setting to turn it back on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
