I am on a brand-new machine and having trouble setting up the Firefox browser.

When I click on a link it opens in a new window with all the tabs ready opened.

How do I open a tab without opening a new window?

Also, how do I set Yahoo.com as my default search engine?

Today when I close many tabs using control w firefox seems to randomly jump around when choosing which next tab to close

I wish to have firefox always close the adjacent tab to the tab I just closed

This should be the default behavior ... I do not see any setting for this ... is there an addon to do this ?

I am using the latest firefox on ubuntu

The pinned shortcuts on my newtab page have all disappeared once again. I've gone to about:config > browser.newtabpage.pinned and my shortcuts are all listed. But only blank boxes show up on the page. It will not accept a new entry when I try to enter one. It goes back to the blank white box. Why does this keep happening? Can anyone give me a Firefox for Dummies way to fix this?? Thanks!

Hello, When i create a new tab (cntrl + T) I can no longer just start typing and have that be a google search. Now I need to manually click in the search bar. Is there a way to enable it so creating a new tab automatically puts the text into the search bar field?

After updating to 125.0.1 (64 bit) all my existing tabs were wiped out. Restoring the tabs does not solve the problem. Every time I close Firefox the tabs disappear.

Hello, sadly I have the problem since a few days that firefox opens a new tab with the same error every time I google something or click on a new page/subpage etc. The URL on the error page is all the time "https://0.0.0.1/" mentention of course a page loading error. I don't know why firefox keeps oppening new tabs with this URL. I allrady tried to use the clearing function and even reinstalled the software, nothing worked. Maybe somebody can help me solving this problem, it is very annoying to have multiple new error-tabs per minute in a normal work flow. Thanks and best regards, Thomas

When searching with google it always opens a new Tab with some not working Address. Whether i just search or click on pictures or look at a picture more in detail it always opens this tab: Look at picture: At this point it is really annoying and in the settings of the browser i don't seem to find a solution. Please help.

Every time I open a new tab, another extra tab opens automatically with the following address: https://0.0.0.1/

showing this message: An error occurred during a connection to 0.0.0.1.

I already re-installed Firefox but this bug keems popping up.

BTW: I did not do a d*** thing. It just started yesterday and is extremely annoying!

Whenever I select tab and then start typing in the page search box it automatically jumps to the URL/Address bar. This is not only annoying but it makes it difficult for me to see what I'm typing, and it often results in unwanted typing errors. I have yet to encounter a single longtime Firefox user who thinks this is a good idea, but I have met several who've decided to drop Firefox and start using Chrome just to be done with it. I've been using Firefox since early 2005 and I've mostly been happy with it but this is just to annoying to continue. I'm complaining because the feature exits, I'm complaining because there's no option to opt for those of us who find it annoying and will never become comfortable with it.

If there is a working fix that I've been unable to find, then please point me to where or what it is so that I can apply it.

I received a scam Apple (security) popup (on which I never clicked) and from that point on, some 30+ obsolete tabs congregate across the top Firefox browser window. How do i lose all these unwanted tabs?

I've set up a second profile to keep my personal and work browsing separate. When I reopen my non-default profile, it doesn't restore the previous session's tabs. I have "open previous windows and tabs" checked under Settings > General > startup in both profiles. Please advise.

Where are all the tabs for the research I was working on? I stepped out of my office for a few minutes and returned to a very proud message declaring that Firefox had auto updated and now better than ever. Only all my tabs are gone. Why does every other browser save and restore tabs when updating, but not Firefox??? Do I have to go back to Safari or Chrome? This cannot happen!!!

When opening a new website when a window is already opened I want Mozilla to add a tab and not create an entirely new window. How do I change this feature which presumably is in "settings".

I use google as my default firefox home page on my HP laptop. recently a second tab opens at the same time. "how to set the home page" --I've tried closing it and restarting the laptop, but it continues to pop up every time I open firefox as a 2nd tab. I am/was happy with my homepage opening to google. My "recovery.jsonlz4" file from a previous install will not reopen my previous session (tabs) after the new installation.

Before deleting my previous installation of Firefox (for a clean install), I did two things: I created a restore point, and I did a backup of my old data.

The data consists of: bookmarks-2024-05-10.json

These folders: C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Local C:\Users\[machinename]\AppData\Roaming C:\Computer Files\Mozilla Firefox\distribution C:\Program Data\Mozilla-1de4eexxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

Within "Roaming" I have Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default-release\sessionstore-backups

In that sessionstore-backup, I have a "recovery.baklz4" (most recent session, I'm guessing) and three others that look like "upgrade.jsonlz4-2024xxxxxxxxxxx

With Firefox closed, I took a copy of "recovery.baklz4" (745 KB) and pasted it into the current sessionstore-backups file, then I changed the file to "recovery.jsonlz4".

I thought that when I reopened Firefox, my previous tabs would appear. They didn't. So, I went to the menu, then to History, and clicked on Recover Previous Session. That didn't do anything either. And it reduced the size of the *.jsonlz4 file from 745 KB to 6 KB.

I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Can you help me out?

in google and in other browsers when you have multiple tabs in a container you have an option to minify all tabs in the container. is there a similar feature for firefox,
