Firefox has a feature where, if you select a tab and drag your cursor downwards while still pressing down on it, it will open that tab in a new window. Is there any way to disable this? I am frequently opening tabs in new windows when I'm just trying to view them and it drives me mad. I never use this feature intentionally- I am constantly using on accident due to quickly moving my cursor away from the tab bar to view the tab I just opened. Thank you.

every time i go to open a link it puts me in a new tab, even trying to use the original way of changing the preferences in the browser itself doesn't work, it either opens a new window or new tab. i dont like new tabs or new windows created while searching or opening links, please help :/

Recently Mint upgraded my FF to v147 - possibly relevant, possibly not. There's no post mentioning anyone having this issue on the Mint forum though.

In my Settings, "Open previous windows and tabs" is definitely enabled, but it doesn't happen. I only get my homepage custom URLs.

I went into troubleshooting mode and FF then behaves.

So I figured the issue must be with an extension - but I disabled all my extensions, and it doesn't help. Only going full troubleshooting mode fixes it.

What do I do next please?

There are many tabs open in the firefox window. I'm closing the firefox. I'm opening it again.All tabs opened during the previous opening disappear.Either a new page or a single tab opens. The settings are set to "Open previous windows and tabs" (Image 1)

I go to "Firefox View" ---"Open tabs". (image 2) I see 2-5 windows there.In this case, there are 3 windows.WINDOW 1 is my main window with the tabs that should have been saved and opened when firefox was launched again. I close all tabs from unnecessary windows with a cross.Only window 1 remains. But when restarting, an empty or different window opens again.And again, there are a lot of unnecessary and incomprehensible windows on the list. Previously, a window with restored tabs from the previous session always opened. I recently decided to try vertical tabs in Firefox, and can't find a way to search these tabs as I could when they were horizonal, with the downward pointing arrowhead. If this is a feature, please let me know how to add it to my sidebar, and if not, it would be great if this feature could be developed. Thanks!

I'd like to ask about Firefox's behavior and settings. I'm using Firefox with vertical tabs (using an add-on), but it seems to be behaving strangely. The things that have changed since before are: 1. Open from pinned tab 2. Now opens in a new tab → Previously it opened in the same tab 3. Clicking on a newly opened tab opens a new tab again → Previously it would open pinned tabs/same tabs → in a new tab It has changed. I haven't changed any of my Firefox settings. Windows 11 Home 23H2 Firefox version 139.0.4 (64-bit).

Hello, I have Firefox set to open the tabs that I had open during my last session. (General > Startup > Open previous windows and tabs). When I open Firefox, it does give me all the tabs that were open in my last session. But it does not give me the current pages. It gives me the pages as they existed when I closed it.

Is there some way to have Firefox refresh the tabs when I open the browser? I seem to remember this happening in the past. But it's possible I was using a different browser then.

Now I'm using version 133.0.3, Firefox for Linux Mint mint-001 - 1.0. Yes, I realize this is not the current version. If it's possible to get this feature with the current version, I'll be happy to upgrade.

Hi, I have a large number of tabs and also have pinned tabs. When I click a link outside of Firefox (FF is my default browser) it always opens them at the end of my tabs (on the far right). I would prefer that the newly opened links open at the beginning of my tabs (the far left) but just after my pinned tabs. Is there a was to do this?

I've been using tab grouping and it is really helpful.

But this morning when I created a new tab group called "MISC" I was unable to add any tabs to it.

1. I noticed that this new group happens to be the 11th group I've created. So I'm guessing that there may be a limit of ten groups. Am I right?

2. And now, some hours later, I see that the new MISC group does appear on my tab bar, but one of my old groups, TECH, has disappeared, but its contents seem to have been added to the MISC group.

My Firefox browser just updated to version 143.0.1. When the browser reopened, there was an instructional page that opened in a new tab describing the Unload Tab function. I followed the instructions, right-clicked on the tab, the drop down menu appeared, but there wasn't an Unload Tab option. However, there was a Reload Tab option shown.

How do I resolve this? I'm using a macOS 15.6.1.

There is no longer a 'search tabs' symbol at the top section of the Firefox browser page since I switched to the vertical sidebar for tabs and after searching for help the Mozilla suggestion of ctrl+B just tries to search bookmarks. Please can you help as I have many many tabs always open and use this symbol frequently. Thankyou

I recently updated to Firefox 138.0.1 to use the new tab groups feature, which allows grouping and labeling tabs, as outlined in Mozilla’s support article (expected for all users by May 6, 2025). However, after updating, I don’t see the tab groups option when dragging tabs or right-clicking them. Has anyone else faced this issue? I'm using Firefox Developer Edition v136.0b5, and I'm looking for a way to remove “Turn on Vertical Tabs” from the contextual menu, because I'm so used to reopening a tab by clicking on what was then the last item in the list, that every time I end up with vertical tabs lol.
