Hi there,
I would like the option "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" to be enabled, but it appears that Firefox is actively undoing this change. If I go into settings and check this box, it will appear to be successful and remain checked until that session is over, but if I close & restart, the box is always unchecked after restarting. Is this a bug in the build of Firefox I'm running (102), or is this behavior intended?
Thank you!

Please help me! Last week, was the victim of a computer scam. I called the 888# pop-up on screen. Looked so real w/MS logo and MS defender logo. I stupidly gave my IP address, name, cellphone #, (which I reported to MS fraud division and the FBI). (I installed a VPN, after the fact.) I can't believe I was so taken in by this guy.
I went to my bank in person and gave them my new email address. I tried to log in to my online banking today. Message "Secure Connection Failed. You are not securely connection to this site.Your connection to this site is not private. Information you submit could be viewed by others (like passwords, messages, credit cards, etc.) " Now, I'm terrified that this scammer has access to my computer. I'm afraid to access my online banking. He may even have access to my other online accounts, such as my cable, retail stores, etc. where I changed my email addresses and passwords. Even if I can get "securely connected" how do I know I'm safe from these guys who have my IP address? What can I do? Can someone please help me? Or make a suggestion as to where I can go to resolve this (if possible? Thank you so much.

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue
Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.google.com because this website requires a secure connection.
What can you do about it?
www.google.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.
The issue is most likely with the website, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.
If you are on a corporate network or using anti-virus software, you can reach out to the support teams for assistance. You can also notify the website’s administrator about the problem.
When clicking advanced button there is no way to proceed:
Someone could be trying to impersonate the site and you should not continue.
Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust www.google.com because its certificate issuer is unknown, the certificate is self-signed, or the server is not sending the correct intermediate certificates.

When I start a private window on FireFox, that same private window still has all the browsing history attached to my "normal" FireFox windows.
Ideally, I'd like to start Private Mode and have FireFox start from "zero": No access to past browsing data.
Is there a setting that allows for this?

When I join a Google Hangout and try to share my entire screen, Firefox always prompts me whether to share a window or the entire screen. I always want to share the entire screen. But when I enable the checkbox for "Remember this decision" I get this warning: Firefox can not allow permanent access to your screen.
Why does this happen? Is it because I'm on a unbuntu or is it specific to ubuntu Catalina?

Any suggestions?

Firefox is showing me the same blocked (and cancelled) download on each startup. Firefox tries to download same file every time I open it. I have seen this issue in several threads. I want to share my experience in resolving it:
In your Firefox profile folder (%appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox) look for the file download*.json (the asterix represents some characters I did not record). If it contains the strange link for that file he is trying to download all over again at each startup, delete the text ad save the now empty file. At the following startup, the issue should be resolved and the download*.json should disappear from your profile folder.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Downloading files to a system directory (Linux) such as /home/me/doc/here /home/me/doc/there Have Ask me where to save files checked.
But lastDir is not a real directory I can navigate, such as /run/user/1000/doc/3dcccd48
This causes the user needs to navigate sometimes very long system directory tree for each successive file download.
In about:config I set:
browser.download.lastDir browser.download.lastDir.savePerSite false browser.open.lastDir
But every time these are obfuscated to something like: /run/user/1000/doc/3dcccd48
This introduces about 10 user interactions with mouse/keyboard for each file I download in succession.
How do I get FF to stop obfuscating real system directories for "lastDir"
Really really appreciate the help :)
