For quite a while now my Firefox has been crashing. I always assumed it was because I had too many tabs open so I didn't really try to remedy the situation. Recently, I finally decided to upgrade to Firefox 24 and the issue has gotten much worse - with Firefox crashing even when I have only a limited number of tabs open and it crashing much more often. Furthermore, after updating to Firefox 24, I've had issues with Adobe Flash crashing randomly as well (note: I did not have this problem with the older version of Firefox). My Adobe Flash was up to date and after a bit of research I read that maybe the up to date version of Flash (version 11.9) had a problem running properly with Firefox 24 so I downgraded to the Flash version 11.8 but alas the problem of Flash crashing it still occurring. But even when I don't have any Flash players open, Firefox will still crash or lag. I feel like the issues are all connected somehow.

I've visited various Firefox troubleshooting pages but as I don't know what the exact problem is, I'm not sure which help methods I should target. I don't use that many add-ons/plugins so I don't think they would be causing a problem. Also, I have unchecked the 'use hardware when available' to see if that made any difference, but it doesn't seem to.

On the about:crashes page, the overwhelming majority of the reports do not start with 'bp' at the front of them and there is mention of throttling when I click on them (maybe that's because I crash so often? I don't know). I am unsure about how to decipher the crash reports and would appreciate any help to my problem.

The five most recent crash IDs are: 427a3a5a-79ba-482b-81af-d96d25d8e642 ae01989b-2623-4889-9ab0-cbf193b0acd3 737a1945-29cf-4395-85f5-3a5424da5254 bp-4a49fa46-6fb5-4244-a221-e55d72131028 28ff6786-68b5-4dbf-b255-43f358155160

The five most recent crash IDs that start with 'bp' are: bp-87172abd-586d-4c7a-b53c-8908c2131027 bp-b74dbc36-9bf8-4236-be28-154c32131026 bp-3420cf79-36ad-4043-92b2-a14482131021 bp-a4d7de9e-fd9f-42cb-b570-34db12131021 bp-eaa24b3b-1a33-412e-99b6-62b9e2131018

Firefox 1st received 'unable to load XPcom' After resetting and uninstalling several times Firefox now loads to either a support screen or blank screen. It accepts address input but doesn't execute to target. So far I have been unable to roll back upgrade. Although IE11 works, it doesn't work correctly.

About 2-3 days ago, I started noticing after clicking FIrefox in the taskbar that it was taking a couple seconds to open rather than instantaneously as usual and then this Start.Qone8.com pops up. Not only that, but my default google search is repeatedly being set to Amazon.

Things I have tried:

-Removing any unrecognized programs from the control panel. (Problem remains.)

-Simply clicking the search button at the top right and changing defaults to Google. (Does not stay default.)

-Resetting Firefox which use to do me good (No difference, problem remains.)

-Removing a few add-ons. (Thought the only add-ons i tend to install are all Firefox.)

-Dragging a new homepage (Apparently Start.Qone8.com will ignore this once i reopen the browser, once closed.)

I've tried avoiding any "free cleaners, anti-viral/malware, bots" or any of that garbage, since I fail to believe such an effective thing exists, since they'll probably just give new viruses as well.

I'll appreciate any help that can guide me manually rather than suggest a sketchy, not really heard of removal download. So please none of that, "Oh its easy, two steps, install this". I want to play this safe. Only two step solutions I want to do are ones that just involve me clicking things manually.

If it appears that its absolutely impossible according to most of you to do it without some garbage removal installer, then I'll consider it.

Thanks

Tried uninstall, reinstall, searching in about:config, registry, can't find any "hao123" to delete. Because it not homepage hijacked, but tab hijacked, nothing to delete in shortcut link. Also scanned by spyware/malware programmes, nothing helps. Finally, run process explorer and found:

Command line: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://www.hao123.com/?tn=29065018_59_hao_pg

and under environment: "MOZ_CRASHREPORTER_RESTART_ARG_1" which value is "http://www.hao123.com/?tn=29065018_59_hao_pg"

Can anyone teach me how to remove it?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium x64, which I had to reinstall recently because of some hard drive problems. I used to be able to play MP3 audio files directly on Firefox, when I clicked a link to a MP3 file a new tab would open and the audio would start playing. But now I get a window asking me whether I want to open it (with Windows Media Player by default), or save it, and I can't play MP3 files with HTML5 <audio> tag, supposedly my browser doesn't support it. I've read that in Windows 7 Firefox plays both H.264 and MP3 through Media Foundation, and I can play H.264 videos without problems, so I guess it's some problem with my MP3 codecs or something, though I can play MP3 files with Windows Media Player. Also, media.windows-media-foundation.enabled is set to `true' in about:config, so it's supposed to work, but it doesn't.

What can I do?

Restore previous session and Recenly closed windwos under History are grayed out. Files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak cannot be found when I run Search for them. The last winodw that appeared after the crash and tried to restore had this information:

Well, this is embarrassing. Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page. You can try:

Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session

But there was no list of tabs in this window and the button Restore was grayed out and there was not an option to start a new session only button Close. I hit Close.

Just before that crash I had two windows with multiple tabs opened. How can I restore those sessions? Wher can I find the information about them?

Malawarebytes detects and flags the above and says it successfully removes. This appears to be true if I rerun a scan. However it continued to appear in later sessions. I finally think that I have tracked it down to firing up firefox. If I turn on my desktop and just run a scan, all is clean. I load firefox and run a scan and the pup is detected. I did in the past pick up the search facility Conduit but thought I had got rid; there is no outward sign other than the HKCU, and that was months ago.

the pop-up are covering the pages and are unavoidable. When tabs are clicked, either an unrelated tab is opened or I am taken to another site which I do not want. Most often it is a site that asks for an "Important download" like a Firefox update. I just reinstalled the newest version of Firefox so cannot need an update. I have no add-ons at this point, so that cannot be the problem. I have all pop-ups blocked supposedly.

Every time I go to play YouTube videos, it loads fine and audio works flawlessly, but the actual video itself stutters every 2-3 seconds for just a split second. I'm using the newest version of Firefox, I have several add-ons and plugins but I have tried FFox in Safe Mode and in a new user profile without any of those and nothing works. I have tried going into about:config and setting the browser.sessionstore.interval to both 0, default, and 120000. None of which did anything at all.

System Specs: Windows 7 -64 Bit Intel Celeron 900 4GB RAM 250GB HDD (~60GB Free) FireFox 24

I have checked all my plugins and add-ons...all are up to date. Checked same videos with IE, slightly better but still stutters a tiny bit. I have tried disabling hardware acceleration with no luck.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
