Hello, so I was doing something and then it started lagging. I closed Firefox and when I pressed it again it wouldn't start. It updated then it stopped working. I restarted my PC, clicked many times on Firefox logo and it wouldn't start. I got an error message in the top left corner that appeared for a milisecond. I took a video of it with my phone so I could read what was wrote there. It said "XML analysis error:entity undefined. Location:chrome://browser/content/browse Line number 53, column 1. (Sorry if it ain't the exact words, im translating because my Firefox is in french). There was also <windows id-"main-window"> under it. Don't tell me to open Firefox in safe mode, because that doesn't work either. When I hold shift, nothing happens. It doesn't ask me to go to safe mode. How do I fix this? Thanks

Hi. I've been a loyal user to Mozilla Firefox for many years now. My concern is whenever I updated the browser from the past, It deletes my settings and extensions. That's whats keeping me from updating it for quite sometime now. So Im simply afraid to do it. For example. Part of my research entails an extension that downloads and converts from a video site. After an update this is removed. I have to re-install everytime. I so got tired of this. Its so annoying everytime it asks for updating, I have to opt out. Is there some way I can update this without messing up my settings? Has Mozilla already worked out a version without messing with my settings? Thank you for the help.

I love Firefox but updates are becoming annoying to the point of me not wanting to use it anymore.

It's bad enough there are so many updates, and it's bad enough that we have to mess about with CSS to customize Firefox, but having to redo the hard-gained custom CSS regularly leaves me speechless.

The CSS may be obvious to you folks, but for anyone not knowing the browser structure it's a time-consuming nightmare.

Rather than coming up with fancy new features a lot of people may not need anyway, please first make it more usable by adding options for features such as the tabs position and adjust the CSS behind the scenes.

Every time an update is published, a real risk exists an add-on won't work any more. Multirow Bookmarks is an example. In Firefux rel 64, the "never update" CHOICE for users is GONE. Mozilla just a little self-righteous there, maybe? I've used Firefox exclusively since release of Windows 3.1 and bragged on them often, but this is deplorable. How do I remove the constant pestering to update?

Hi,

When I try download and install mozilla firefox it gives a prompt "This version of Firefox requires Microsoft Windows 7 x64 or newer". But the fact is that I'm installing it on a Win 7 64-bit environment and the firefox installer file is also 64-bit. I have verified the minimum system requirements for firefox installation and it meets the criteria. But still it doesn't allow me to install and gives the said prompt.

Tried various install files and no luck. When I try download it is the stub installer file that is available for latest versions. Refer the screenshot of the error.

I have a MacBookPro with OS 10.13.6. In System Preferences/Notifications I have unchecked everything regarding Firefox banners/alerts, etc. But I still get a 2" x 3" pop-up in the upper right-hand corner of my screen, with "A new Firefox update is available." I don't want this reminder--I will check for update at my convenience. This is a real nuisance--how do I stop it?

Only Solution: Disable Update.

Type “about:config” in the address bar, then press “Enter“.
   Search for the “app.update.auto” setting.
Double-click the “app.update.auto” option to toggle the setting. If set to “true“, automatic updates are enabled. If set to “false“, automatic updates are disabled.

Firefox 63.0.3 Windows 7 Home Premium

When I opened Firefox this morning, it stated that there was a new version available so I clicked the box.

The browser closed, it went through the motions, and reopened the browser.

I checked the version and it still showed 63.0.3, with the option to update, so I rebooted the computer, reopened the browser, and it still shows 63.0.3 with the option to update.

I am sure that others have already posted about this but what is the fix?

Hi, I can’t install the latest Firefox update (63.0.3). For some reason, every time I launch the bowser it looks as though the update is installing, but when I check manually, it’s still not updated and the process repeats itself.

If it helps, I’m using Windows 10. (I’ve already tried clearing my cache.)

But when it does start, nothing has changed: I am still running 63.0.3 and it still says "Restart to update Firefox." I have been round this loop a half dozen times. What next?

By choosing to champion Privacy, and some Security features, Firefox has ticked off those corporations who believe my online activities should create an additional revenue stream for them by providing my online browsing to sell. AKA, many companies want to emulate Google, the information seller,.

Apparently Firefox responds to this by constantly trying to do Updates that are going to fail, which means my use of the Firefox Browser is constantly hanging, sticky and slowed.

Firefox developers need to understand the sequence of events, and not allow users of Firefox to be punished by a slow Firefox, because of Update failures.

This goes back to my other thing. If I log into the basic Firefox website, (They do not block the Firefox opening page, just the download link will not work) I expect to see by the download link the version of the latest Firefox, and its release date, as that is how I orientate how much difficulty I need to go through to get my Firefox updates.

If Firefox is going to support Privacy, Firefox should to expect to be hated, and blocked.

My computer is an Alienware 15 R2, I7, 16 GB RAM. Windows 10 Pro, which is fully updated, as McDS does not block M$ updates. (Microsoft also a company that also appears to have gone over to the dark side, and wants to spy on everything I do.

On this computer I'm using, every single time there's a new firefox update, it always seems to fail the auto installation process for the update and it prompts me to download a fresh copy of firefox. This bothers me a lot, because I can't just let it do it all for me for some reason and have it nice and updated the next time I want to use the browser. I always need to it manually. I don't need to do this on my other computer either, which bothers me even more, because I have no problems with firefox updates on my laptop, but on my main PC it'll keep going with these problems. This has been going on for quite a while and I don't know how to fix this.

I have mozilla set to notify me when an update is ready but I just watched it update with no input from me.

example: [no input] Double click on the Firefox icon on the desktop and it says wait while we install the latest update. Then the little updater box with the progress bar opens showing update in progress. I DID NOT OK AN UPDATE!

How can I rely on software that does not follow settings? I am using Win 10 and the most current {NOW) firefox thanks to it updating without my permission. This is also why I now use Chrome as my default browser.
