06/10/15 - The new download of FireFox 38.0.5 - hangs streaming videos on the the Comcast / Xfinity website. Runs fine on latest build of IE.

This did not occur on the previous version of FireFox. I always want to know when a website wants to activate Adobe Flash. This is a step backward. Can this be fixed in a new FireFox update/Rev?

I tested the following elements to one at a time to determine the cause- - Adobe Shockwave Flash ver. - 18.0.0.160 (Up to Date) - Java vers. - 8.45 (Up to Date - Removed uBlock - (Latest version) - Removed Disconnect - (Latest version) - Disabled FireFox Hardware Acceleration in settings - - set Shockwave Director to never run-

Solution fix- Set Adobe Flash from "Ask to Activate" to "Always Activate" fixes the problem.

Windows 8.1.

After rebooting from the Windows update install this afternoon, FF hangs with a non-responsive message from windows.

Eventually, FF asks if I want to start in safe mode. Safe mode also hangs. Taking the refresh option works (allowing normal browsing and option changing), but ONLY until I close the first instance.

Re-launching FF returns to the initial hang problems, and doing reset AGAIN only works until I close the session.

I even removed FF entirely via the control panel and down loaded a new copy from Mozilla.org and installed it fresh.

No joy, same exact problems. Current release version 38.0.5.

I use OS 10.9.5 Build 13F1096. In System Preferences, Users & Groups, Login Items I have added Firefox 39.0 to the list of applications that open at startup but it usually closes immediately after it opens. Is there a remedy? Thank you.

I keep getting script error messages, I have included a couple of screen prints. I did recently install a new version of Kaspersky Internet security, could this possibly be my problem? Help!

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, deleted all profiles, viewed and attempted every suggestion that was found via search engine. Firefox will only start with -P option and creation of new profile. Once closed, it will not open again using the profile just created. Any ideas as to what type of additional troubleshooting that is available. There are no crash reports or logs generated anywhere that can be found. Running on Windows 7 Professional.

I cannot login to gmail since upgrading to windows 10, i can login to my gmail account from chrome and internet explorer but not firefox. I am running the latest version 40.x.x. I have tried deleting history, deleting cookies, deleting cookies-sqlite file incase it was corrupt, I have installed a fresh version of firefox after a complete uninstall and deleting all the appdata folders, my privacy setting are set to allow cookies and third party cookies and to keep them for ever. It is really frustrating now, it just keeps refreshing the screen and staying on the password entry screen. I really want to continue using firefox but i think i am going to have to go back to chrome if i can't even use gmail

Below, is a screen shot of my Computer's Properties. I realize my PC is old. I'll admit, that I should know more about this stuff than I do, but I am so frustrated, I'm ready to simply uninstall Firefox, and go back to Chrome. Basically all I do online, is read News, Sports, and play a few games. I can't help but feel, that I have conflicting Add-ons which are causing me all these issues, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out the right combination of them to get my Browser to run smoothly.

Constantly the Debugging Script box pops up, or Shockwave crashes, or the page I'm on simply starts hanging and freezing. I shouldn't need to be clearing my History/Cache daily, but I do, and even this is only a temporary fix. After a half an hour, I'm right back to all the issues again. Thanks in Advance!

OK I am trying to run the latest version of FF on Win7. I have 2GB RAM. Just recently, FF stopped running and will not run not matter what I try. I have uninstalled, cleaned my harddisk, cleaned the registry, wiped the free space, and DL'd the newest version which installs just fine. Problem is, when I click on the desktop icon, the program loads to about 78MG (process manager) and then disappears. I have tried this 3 times. I believe it's a good install but can't figure why it wont run. I've never seen this in FF before. I love my fox, help me get it back?

Firefox was working fine until I restarted my PC today (which runs Windows 7 Ultimate), and now it won't open no matter how many times I click the taskbar icon or the Start Menu/desktop shortcut.

One popular fix I noticed while troubleshooting is to reset Firefox by holding shift while opening the program, then selecting the "reset" option. Holding shift while I try to open it does nothing.

I tried restarting my PC multiple times, and tried starting it up in Safe Mode with Networking. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice. Same problem.

This has been an ongoing issue for a long time now, as long as I can remember. I click to open FF from my desktop, it opens fast, but hangs for anywhere from 4 to 8 seconds upon initial load before it even attempts to connect to my set homepage, which is www.google.com (I've tried other variations too, google.ca, google.com/ncr etc etc).

I've tried clearing my cache, completely reinstalling FF, safemode, disabling themes, disabling addons and re-enabling addons, with no luck, the same HANG persists.

Shouldn't FF load just fine and then immediately try connecting to my homepage? What's with this "Connecting..." every time I initially load the program?

I'm completely stumped here, I've tried everything,,,,, Something is causing firefox to delay at startup or it's hanging for no reason too long because it thinks the program hasn't loaded fully yet, but it has. Some sort of timing issue or something.

Please view the attached screenshot jpg file I've included with this post to see exactly what I see everytime I load FF for the first 4 to 8 seconds. I know computers and the inner workings of things and how to use about:config etc etc, so I'll be able to follow even the most difficult of directions if you have a solution. Thankyou ahead of time for reading this post, I look forward to your reply!

For the past week now, Firefox has been freezing up on me for a long period of time each day. It doesn't matter what I am doing, I could be browsing on the web, checking my email and such.The only way I seem to rectify this, is do a hard restart. Yes I do update my system,clear cache and cookies. I have read most of the replies on the possible fixes, but my question is it really necessary to start Firefox in safe mood to solve this issue?

After my browser being open for a while, usually a few hours, Firefox starts to get some major hanging in some tabs; I can have two windows open, one with a youtube video playing and another with like reddit or something else, and when browsing reddit, I get major hanging when interacting for around 7 seconds.

I recorded a couple performance profiles to see what's causing it, and it seems to consistently be a very long JIT or GC call, also labelled as "Cycle Collection" in the waterfall view.

I saved the profiles and I can upload them, but I'm not sure if they come with any private info so I'm reticent to add it to this thread.

I've watched the Task Manager (the Firefox one and the Windows one) while this is happening and memory usage in the Windows task manager seems to rise quickly over a few seconds then suddenly drop back down. I'm not sure if that's relevant. In the Firefox Task Manager I didn't see anything particularly salient other than energy usage spiking up just after the hanging is over.

This doesn't only seem to happen on Windows because it also happens on my Linux laptop occasionally as well, in a very similar manner. I didn't collect any evidence on Linux yet.

This has been happening for quite a while now, on multiple versions of Firefox in a row. I'm using 79.0b3 Developer Edition right now on my Windows machine.

Closing and reopening Firefox usually causes things to clear themselves out and I don't get such long hanging for a while.

I would expect JIT and GC to happen in much smaller chunks to avoid hanging, it's strange that it takes that long for one call.

relatively recently (within the last month), Firefox has become prone to hanging. It seems to happen with randomly, and can be trigger by just about anything, e.g. scrolling a window, clicking on anywhere in the window. It appears that even with content process limit = 1, it still runs with a minimum of 5 process threads. Don't know how these are ordered, but the 'last' of these, as displayed in Task Manager (yes Windows 10 2004), seems to be the one with a wait chain.

This is quite frustrating, but although I am willing to help collect relevant diagnostics, I do not know sufficient to know which and how.

All helpful suggestions welcome. The laptop is not CPU, Memory, nor disk bound when these waits occur.
