How do I remove the automatic reset of Firefox to the awful yahoo search engine? I want Google as default search engine. Here is what I have already tried: a. Choosing Google over yahoo and then deleting the yahoo from preferences: Firefox always springs back to yahoo. b. Dowloading the "Google default" app. This worked on earlier versions of Firefox, before V 38.0.1. But it appears that the commercial interests behind Firefox have now circumvented this, as well, because the "Google default" app now no longer works. c. Erasing, and then re-installing the "Google default" app. No improvement.
If there is no way to deal with this, then I'm dumping FF and switching to Google Chrome.

The problem is the one that can be seen in the screenshot attached. I pointed every place in the Bookmarks toolbar and above where the icons randomly disappear. This is also true for most icons/images in the page. It mostly happens when CTRL+TAB/ALT+TAB into Facebook, but it has also happened in some other websites.
This was happening in same Windows build with previous (I think 38.0.0) Firefox version. Windows was reinstalled and it kept happening. Tried disabling all add-ins and tried launching Firefox on secure mode, nothing has helped at all. Attached troubleshooting information in case this helps.
At this moment, Firefox is UNUSABLE due to constant crashes and visualization glitches, all part of the same issue.

I have created a 4 GB RAMDisk( 4GB of my RAM is now a Local Hard drivem which has crazy read speeds nearing 400MBps) using a Dataram software( http://memory.dataram.com/products-and-services/software/ramdisk ) . I have installed firefox in that drive to increase its performance. But until I move my cache into that Drive, I can't make it any faster than before. I am a heavy user. I have the following add ons installed which take its toll on firefox's speed, 1. VideoDownloadHelper 2. Unmht 3. Integrated Google Calendar 4. Dashlane 3 password manager 5. Progre All enabled and latest updated versions, other than 4 other disabled add ons.
So I need to change the cache directory. I tried this solution https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/768867 ,. I went to about:config , browser.cache.disk.enable is true, and browser.cache.disk.parent_directory , I can't find.

This just started happening today and I'm not sure why. I've tried troubleshooting and nothing works. I even tried refreshing Firefox and safe mode. It still crashes and there is no crash report. I can open Youtube's main page just fine, but when I try to play a video it immediately crashes. I've tried playing around with disabling plugins and anything else I can think of, but nothing works.

I sure would like to solve this. I was using Safari on my 2008 Mac and then it became outdated on some websites so I switched to Firefox. I am using a wireless connection supplied by the RV park that we are in with a password. I must use Safari to log in then I can use Firefox once that I am connected. (Firefox 38.0.1). Is there some way to disable whatever security line is causing this problem. I also use Firefox on a windows7 laptop from time to time with no problems. So far this is the only problem that I have found since installing Firefox on the Mac.

It also showing this window, even I don't have tabs open (eg. on the new about:blank page). Thou this message pop up almost every time when I'm opening a new page.

I was browsing and one of the tabs stopped working. I couldn't close it or do anything w/ it except view it. The other tabs and window seemed ok. I had quite a few pinned tabs and am using the group your tags feature. Eventually I gave up and closed the windows. (the one w/ the pinned tabs I closed last) When I opened firefox again, it opened a whole bunch of "New Tabs" and I can't restore the session since it thinks it retained the session. My guess is that the group tabs functionality is bugged, especially since it seems you can't turn it off and it won't release the session.

I seem to be able to download ("initializing") the app, but when I go to INSTALL (I hope I have the right words), it says CONNECTION FAILED. TRY AGAIN. CONNECTION FAILED. CLICK THE FINISH BUTTON TO RESTART THE INSTALL PROCESS. This has become a unending cycle. I have contacted my internet provider (and gone through their restart process) I am connection to the Internet. I have disabled my anti-virus prgm and my Firewall; nothing seems to help. The last time I was able to actually INSTALL any of the above programs/apps, I did so with the help of "Troubleshooting when using Firefox"...and that let me download the,...but I can't find a selection like that now....which is why I am writing to Firefox/Mozilla. I have been using Firefox for about 5-6 years now, and I love it! Except for these problems. I am not a dummie, but not a geek either...I just need some help.

Any secure site is viewed as an untrusted connection. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. I have two work computers - Firefox works on one, but not the other. I have looked at the other relevant articles already, and tried everything to fix this problem. I have completely reinstalled Firefox, I have refreshed it, I have deleted the cert8.db file, I have run it in safe mode, and I have run it with the Skip Cert Error 0.4.4 extension. Nothing works - I cannot even access support.mozilla.org without running into this error. If I let the skip cert error do its thing for a while, sometimes I can access a bare-bones version of the site with a white background and all links in blue underlined text, all aligned left. There's got to be a better way.
Unfortunately, I cannot post from the computer that has the problem, as it can't access this site.... let me know what information would be helpful and I'll copy it over.

The Plugin has been blocked a couple times in the past. I did not know this until I did a refresh of Firefox. It is unblocked now. This is happening, I suppose when I make or received phone calls in Google (G-mail & Hangouts). My questions are these:
1) Why does this happen? 2) How might I prevent this from happening again? 3) Is there a simple way to check to see if the Plugin is blocked?

When I'm in private browsing mode in Firefox 38.0.1 for Windows 8.1, I cannot do the following things.
1. When I click on a link to open a new window, that new window is like a pop-up window (no menus, no scroll-bars). But I have pop-up windows blocked, so it acts like but is not technically a pop-up window since it's not being blocked.
2. When I choose a bookmark and then right-click on it to choose another bookmark either in a new window or new tab (or any of the other options that appear), the text is grayed out so that I cannot choose it.
Are these "issues" normal for Firefox 38.0.1?

I am unable to select "clear history" - it's greyed out & unselectable on my laptop. It only happens on my laptop, but shows my history for many months in the past and includes the history from both of my desktop computers which is supposedly cleared frequently. Sync is enable on all devices, and the history does not show on the desktops. I am able to clear the history on both desktop browsers but not the laptop. Laptop OS: Windows 7 Home Prem. This has been happening since the last update. Currently on v38.0.1 for desktop PC. I do not see this message when using an Android tablet, and bookmarks and passwords appear to be synched.
The message then offers the Preference button. When I click the button, the message disappears. Will reappear when accessing a new tab.
