There will be major changes to the user interface in Firefox 29 and later, but Firefox 28 should still look the same as the current Firefox 27 release.

Current Nightly (30.0a1) and Aurora (29.0a2) builds have the Australis interface that looks different than the user interface in the current Firefox releases.

Ha. Ha. Ha. That's funny. That's just why I still use Firefox 14. Every new version of Firefox seems to take away some functionality. Why would people want to use software that continues to change every week and continues to lose functionality?

I write a lot of code using Autohotkey to automate things. One very important thing about manipulating a window is knowing it's title. And with that information gone, it just makes writing routines more difficult.

I hate not having title bars. I looked at Windows 8 and was sickened. It makes it very difficult to differentiate where one window begins and another ends. Oh, duh, maybe most people just have one window showing at a time. Gee, doesn't that go against the entire concept of "WINDOWS"????

You will still be able to have the title bar and have the menu bar visible in the usual way (View > Toolbars or right-click in the toolbar area), so that shouldn't be a reason to stay with an outdated and no longer supported Firefox 14 version that has know and disclosed security vulnerabilities.

Only tabs on top are no longer possible without using an extension.

I must say, I am EXTREMELY disappointed that I am having a new interface imposed on me, and the only option to (hopefully) retain the functionality I currently enjoy will be to download an obscure add-on.

Now, why weren't they kind enough to at least leave the old interface as an option? Also, why did I have to post here to find any word whatsoever.

Information about the new user interface has been posted at various websites going back at least to the beginning of this year, if not longer. Australis has been in development for a couple of years.

How do I turn the title bar back on in v29?

Some of us USE our browser to do other things. The browser in and of itself is not a hobby or something I care to pay attention to, once I have it working as desired.

So I hadn't even heard about Australis until I found this obscure hint on an update page for sessionManager, and posted about it here.

Kind of hard to search for something when you've never heard of it.

Do you own a car? I'm afraid I do.

Do you replace it annually? I certainly don't. So long as it's still working fine, keep using it. Sure, I change the oil and other preventative maintenance, but that's all. That used to be my policy with firefox updates.

Same is what I ask of my browser. I've got it working, and now Mozilla is telling me they're going to swap the steering wheel with the gas, brake, and clutch pedals. And they seem shocked when I'm not thrilled by this.

I've heard they completely got rid of the title bar.

That add-on Cor-el mentioned might help, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

You can check the customize window to re-enable the title bar.

• 3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize
• View > Toolbars > Customize

You can get the Title Bar back by using the Add-On "Classic Theme Restorer". In the options un-tic box for "Tabs in Titlebar about:config". Then under "Application Button" change to "Button Disabled" to get rid of the "Firefox Button" in upper left corner. You can also change the width by going to next box down which reads "Max Width 210 (default)". With drop down menu choose "Max Width 250 (classic)". The Classic Theme Restorer is a handy little add-on for now!

My main complaint about the v29+ UI horror was the loss of the titlebar; I found finally that the "browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar" flag in "about:chrome" was what I wanted.
