I can't go back or forward using the trackpad.

So I was having problems scrolling ONLY in firefox. So I used one of the solutions given in another thread. So now the problem is that I can't go backwards or forwards using the trackpad like I used to. This problem started today. I'm on versin 26, using Mac OS 10.9.1 Mavericks, I have Adblock Plus, Thumbnail Zoom Plus, and Reddit Enhancement Suite installed, and none of them have ever given me problems like this. I've had them installed for months, and I've never had this problem until tonight. I'm not sure why this is happening. I've tried resetting Firefox, as well as installing a fresh copy. Nothing seems to be working.

Do you mean back to the previous page and forward to the next page (if you previously went back to an earlier page)?

How were you doing that with your trackpad?

By the way, what is the status of the scrolling problem. Is that still a problem can could you describe that in more detail in case it's related?

Back to the previous page. I used to be able to flick two fingers left or right and it would go to the previous or next page (assuming there was a next page to go to) repsectively. The scrolling problem was triggered once I opened a link on a page. The trackpad scroll would stop working. I fixed this problem by disabling two finger swipes on my system preferences, but if it's enabled, I can't scroll OR go back. So the point I'm in here, is disabling going back and being able to scroll, or enabling going back, and not being able to do that or scroll.

Okay, I see. You had to disable the gestures for back/forward in order to get scrolling working, so that's the critical issue.

As a Windows user, I don't know the ins and outs of Mac trackpads. But in case the problem is that the focus is away from the page itself, if you click (tap) a blank area of the page, does that help at all?

Nope. That doesn't help. I've tried. I have no idea what's going on.

A similar issue was reported in this thread: Mac 10.9 trackpad scroll not working. One user reported that the problem cleared up after turning off the Mac and restarting it the next day. No one else reported how they fixed the problem, if they did (going back to Firefox 25 doesn't really count as a solution...).
