How fast does the usage go up during your session?

Does it seem at all related to what sites you use?

In past threads, users occasionally have discovered sites that seem to use memory in a way that Firefox cannot release without shutting down and restarting the browser. However, volunteers weren't always able to replicate the problem (for example, if the site requires an account), so more examples are always welcome.

By the way:

• Did you have this problem in Firefox 24 or 25?

• What is the plugin that describes itself as "Provides information about the default web browser"? (This would be the small text below the Plugin name on the Add-ons page.)

Hey js: I just went through a long shared screen session with a senior apple tech guy, and we cleared out 3 different caches. Firefox mem usage went from 10-12 gigs to less than 1 gig. Not as intuitively easy to clean the caches as on a PC. Issues resolved for now, perhaps more of a Mac issue than a Firefox issue, although I'm not sure that's fair.

Hi zemmo, were these different than the caches you clear from inside Firefox? If there's a technical article on this, it would be great to have for future reference.

Yes, not browser caches. I asked the apple tech guy if there was an article and he didn't know of one. They were a little hard to find. And it probably wasn't necessary anyway, as I noticed soon after that the app mem was filling up again at an alarming rate. Finally tracked it to a tab with a website that tracks bitcoin sales <fiatleak.com>, an amusing but completely inessential data streamer.
