how can I get my type bigger? also, my speakers are plugged in, but cannot get sound
I just did a reinstall due to a virus- I am trying to get my type b bigger- not sure if this is a firefox issue- also, my speakers are plugged in, the light is on, but cannot get sound- I tried the sound icon on the bottom, it is up to max

Have you tried increasing the zoom? This is a good option if everything on the page, not just text, is too small. Just hit CTRL and + a few times to zoom in. CTRL and 0 will set the zoom back to normal.
If you really just want to change the font size, you should look at the Knowledge Base article on Accessibility features in Firefox - Make Firefox and web content work for all users. There is a lot of good information in there.
As for your sound issue, have you looked at What to do if Firefox won't play any sounds and Fix common audio and video issues?

thanks Matt- I did try increasing the zoom- gets bigger when I hit Ctl + but then reverts- I am too tired to play with it any more tonight, but thank you so much for your suggestions- will tackle again tomorrow- I will let you know how I make out- thanks again!
