Hello, I am switching from IE8 to Firefox. We need to be able to open a new window with the same page displayed instead of going to my homepage. In IE it's called "Open A New Duplicate Window". This feature is very important to us using two screens for web development. Thanks

Other posters are having a difficult time distinguishing tabs and windows, it seems. With many posters here the two terms are used incorrectly and interchangeably, just as are desktop and Firefox window, but my understanding is that a lot of that "mis-terminology" is being taught in schools.

Here is the only thing that I could find quickly for you:

Notice on the first link (read carefully). May not work, unless that should be "current tabs addresses" and it appears it may "take over" the New Window/New Tabs selections (i.e., not blank new windows/tab):

  • Clones the current tab's address and history into a new window when the New Window command is used (and optionally into a new tab when the New Tab command is used). {emphasis added}

Option without downloading anything

Open in a new tab: Hold down the Ctrl key, then drag the tab that you want to duplicate to the right onto the tab bar. Note: A small black upward pointing arrow appears to the left of the + sign (used to open new blank tabs).

Simple no need to click anything :)

Open a new window and duplicate: click on File then New Window, then follow the above instructions and drag the tab to the other window.

If this solves your problem please say solved.

You can also open the Customize window and drag the New Window button on the Navigation Toolbar.
You can drag the website favicon from the location bar on that New Window toolbar button.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

Opera. Simple. Right click/Clone tab.

FireFox needs this me thinks!
