how do i import bookmarks from an external hard drive?
I exported my firefox bookmarks to an external hard drive. I now have a new laptop, but am not sure how to transfer those bookmarks back to firefox.

It's no different to importing from a hard drive on your own machine. The external HD will have a drive letter in the same way as an internal HD.
Simply use the reverse procedure you did to export the file i.e. choose "Import HTML" instead of "Export HTML".
If you saved it in .JSON format, then choose "Restore" from the "Import and Backup" menu instead.
