Firefox 5.0.1 was specifically released to be compatible with Mac OSX Lion.
Since you are already using Firefox 5.0.1, it will continue to work with the new OS.

Will Firefox become compatible with the gestures in OSX? i.e. the animated, two finger scrolling between pages

I have noticed that at times Firefox seemingly takes over the scrolling of all of my applications. It doesn't matter if it is hidden or out of view, the scrolling will only happen in there, and no where else. To get this to stop, I have to quit Firefox.

Hm, it's not really "working" with Lion at this point. After doing a clean install of Lion and Firefox 5, Firefox does not remember log-in IDs or passwords, despite being set to do so.

Also, log-ins in general are unreliable. I get a lot of failures trying to log in with OpenID or Facebook ID on third-party sites.

This is a major pain in the ass. In combination with the failure to fix the puny and unresizable bookmarks dialog, it makes Firefox unappealing and looking poor in comparison to Chrome.

Firefox update window pops up, but the download update never finishes/starts. Firefox will crash more than it used to. To me firefox still has some bugs. The full screen of Lion doesn't seem to work also.

Are you guys working on an update that REALLY works with Lion? I am losing faith in Firefox every day. It plain stops working under Lion - it regularly crashes - it it is reliable 50% of the time. All i see is "the current upgrade is compatible" yes it is but are you working on a version that actually works?

I use Safari but would like my Firefox back. You guys are losing your reputation on this one!

I have been having a multitude of text, email and printer problems with Firefox since installing OS X LION on my iMac. Sadly, I now have to use Safari since it has no such problems.

I hope Mozilla will work out the kinks so thousands of us can return to Firefox. I have alerted my iMax/Firefox user friends

I'm using Lion too, and a few things are still not fully compatible.

For instance, the three-finger-double-tap-dictionary-look-up function simply doesn't work, much to my dismay. I noticed a two finger swipe history navigation was implemented recently. The problem is that it is fundamentally different from that in safari, because in safari you can clearly see the window sliding away (Mac users will know what I mean). I often accidentally go to the previous page because of the clumsy way this implementation was made.

Another issue is of course that Firefox does not create a 'space' or ('desktop' if you want) in full screen mode, and that you cannot have the full-screen button in the exact same place it is in in normal Macintosh applications. In Firefox, in order to come close to the normal thing, you have to put the button in the tab bar. However, nobody wants their tab bar to be visible when only one tab is open, right? So then the full-screen button is hidden. Clumsy! This button placement would not be a huge issue, if <command+F> was the full-screen short key as it is in almost any Mac application. This is where Apple made a mistake: <command (or control on windows) + F> has always been and will always be the short key for Find. Every geek knows that.

All in all I'd say just a little dedication could easily make Firefox feel more native (and therefore more pleasant) for Mac users.

I would really like to see the implied modifications show up in an update soon, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one.

I have to say ... I have never seen Mozilla so tight lipped about obvious issues! No updates for months for Macs with a version that is not working well. Crashes constantly and for no reason. A number of issues already mentioned. But publicly not a beep from them. Are they working on something? Are they telling Mac users to go away? Safari is not the answer... especially if you use Wordpress a lot like I do. Come on guys say something!!!!
