Getting really fed up with FF and Hotmail. The latest update of FF has now left me with an option to remain logged in to my HM account or face a blank login page. The whole family uses HM - if I revert to IE, I can see all of our login - wht has gone wrong with FF to make it get progressively worse and FF not address the issue?

I'm not familiar with Firefox 6 beta. Are you saying that the form autocomplete isn't working on the login page, or the whole login page is blank??

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

1. Clear Firefox's Cache

orange Firefox button or Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"

2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here

While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Get rid of everything ending with live.com.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

hi tried all of that before. By blank I mean that the ID and password sections are both empty, there is also only one tick box and that is to remain logged in.

The form filler works on all other site but this one. It is not just me that has this issue. Search through the forums and you will find loads of people like me having problems with FF and Hm passwords with the main answer being given as yours jscher hence i had tried it - however - answers seem to stop beyond that!

-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy section -> History section -> Firefox will: select "Use custom settings for history" -> Remove Checkmark from "Permanent Private Browsing mode" -> place Checkmarks on:

  1) Remember my Browsing History
  2) Remember Download History
  3) Remember Search History
  4) Accept Cookies from sites -> select "Exceptions..." button -> Click "Remove All Sites" at the bottom of "Exception - Cookies" Window
4a) Accept Third-party Cookies -> under "Keep Until" select "They Expire"

-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security section -> place Checkmark on "Remember Passwords for sites" -> click OK

Now Login to Hotmail by typing User ID and Password, checkmark on "Keep me signed in" and Sign-In to Hotmail. When you are done with Hotmail don't LogOut, just close the browser window. When you restart Firefox and go to Hotmail again, you will not need to Login again.. :D Hotmail will start with your User ID already logged in.

Check and tell if its working.

this is ok if only 1 person uses the computer - there are 4 of us!

You can create a separate Firefox profile for each user, and create separate icons to start up in each of them. Note that each user would want to start Firefox before clicking links in external applications (such as email programs), so those links open in their own Firefox profile.

More info on creating and switching among profiles: Managing profiles | How to | Firefox Help.

just looked at the link - looks very complicated way of addressing what is readily available on on IE -especially to those of us who can manage the basics on computers but not much more!. Having to keep restarting FF everytime we want to change will really upset our gerbil powered computer!!

i still don't understand why FF seems to have lost this facility over sucessive upgrades

Are you even able to save your Username and Password in Hotmail?
Look in the Saved Password window and see if any Passwords are saved in Firefox for Hotmail / Windows Live.

If not, see this:

This bookmarklet will get around the code that websites use that tells Firefox not to offer to save Passwords, allowing you to save passwords even on sites that don't want Passwords to be saved.

Remember Password bookmarklet:

Just drag that Bookmarklet in to your bookmarks, toolbar or drop-down list, and click that Bookmarklet like you would click on a bookmark before you you submit your login to the website.
