I cannot log into Hotmail using Firefox 4.0.1

Although I can log into Hotmail using Internet Explorer, I can no longer sign in when I use Firefox.

A message box comes up saying "You have chosen to open default.aspx which is an aspx File from http://sn123w.mail.live.com"

It also prompts me with "What should Firefox do with this file?", making you have to choose between "open with/Browse" or "save file".

Afterwards, another message pops up which says:

C:\DOCUME~1\xxxx\LOCALS~1\Temp\d0Z4TvxE.aspx.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read. Try again later, or contact the server administrator.

I attempted a system restore several times but the problem still persists.

I tried to find information about it on the Internet, and I found this page which might explain the problem:

Is there any way to fix this situation aside from erasing my Hotmail account? I asked the help forum on MSN and they told me to contact the Firefox forum about this problem instead.

I found that clearing your recent history worked for me, I was no longer able to open my hotmail account in Firefox, only Internet Explorer. Go to: Tools/ Clear Recent History/and make sure all boxes are checked. Hope it helps.

I use Mozilla 5.0 and for awhile I was still able to log into my hotmail account. I never started having this problem till the HTTPS sign in came into use with Hotmail. Now I sometimes just get my account info page, or the screen where it wan't me to save an aspx file? But can't get to my inbox. Using IE doesn't use the HTTPS when signing into windows live mail so untill the issue is fixed with Firefox I'll have to use IE for hotmail if I want to keep this account that I've had for over 15 yrs.

I get routed to some very long web address each time I try to log onto msn and access hotmail in firefox. I get an about sometimes and some other times I get an AVG ( a virus prgram page for search). I have no problems in Explorer. It happens on both computers. Why am I routed around to this long web address? Anyone had this probelm or know of a fix?
