Why won't the back button give a list of all locations I've been as before? Now I have to tediously go back one page at a time :(

Ever since I downloaded Firefox 4 on April 30, 2011, the back button has failed to give the list it used to give when you hovered over it, of all the places you had been in getting to where you are on that tab. That gave one the option of going directly back to the beginning of one's cyber-travels on that tab, or choose any other port-of-call on the way. Now I have to tediously get back to my starting point, or an earlier point, one click after another. Hope that's enough information to give you the picture.

The arrow to open the tab history of the Back and Forward buttons has been removed in Firefox 4.

Use one of these methods to open the tab history list:

  • Right click on the Back or Forward button
  • Hold down the left mouse button on the enabled Back or Forward button until the list opens

Thanks so much cor-el. right-clicking on the back (or forward) button does the trick admirably :)

The add on worked for me. I really don't get why it's not at least an option in the standard set up. Lots of people use laptops and like to tap the pad instead of click the button to "click". Holding the pad does not work and moving the hand to click is annoying. The drop down uses so little space and is so useful so why not just leave it in.
