The Coupon Buddy show up in my predefined components list in the toolbar options when I right click on my toolbar... there are other things in the list such as Bit Torrent Youtube Games and Music... and for every thing in the list the delete option is greyed out. I have searched the web for info on the coupon buddy but I cant come up with anything. I have kept my Avast Anti virus updated as well as my spybot search and destroy and scans have not come up with anything wrong. I am not sure when this found its way on to my computer and it is not listed within the programs and features within the windows control panel.

You have to kill it in two places. FF must be generating revenue from this.

Goto Add-ons

1) Click on the Plug Ins tab.

Disable both "Coupon Inc" addons. For some reason I had two.

2) Click on the Extensions tab

   Disable the "Start Now toolbar"

What a pain.

It's a 3rd party application. it shows how to 'turn it off' (but not remove it) on their website: http://cbapp.com/privacypolicy/

you could perhaps contact them and see if they will tell you how to get rid of it? I don't know how shady they are...

If you have a BitTorrent toolbar I found that it is attached to that. If you disable it or uninstall the toolbar it will go away. Tools->add-ons->Extensions

Coupon Buddy seems to be associated with various 3rd party add-ons. I got it through the FreeCoder toolbar, which was published by Conduit Ltd. Other sources include Ask, SwagBucks, & BitTorrent toolbars just to name a few. You can click the icon and check the 'Turn off Coupon Buddy. I'd prefer to shop alone', but I don't have any trust that this add-on will honestly do this. Since we were not made explicitly aware that this was part of our add-on, I doubt it's legit.

* How to disable for firefox: Tools > Add-ons > Extensions

Look through the list for any kind of toolbar or anything toolbar related.

Click Disable and restart firefox. If Coupon Buddy is gone, you've likely found the source. If not, disable every extensions one at a time (and restart firefox each time) to determine which it is.

Once you have found which add-on it's from, go back into the list and click remove (assuming you are prepare to also loose the add-on it is associated with).

* How to disable for internet explorer: Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable

In the 'show' dropdown list, select "Add-ons currently loaded in internet explorer"

Look through the list for any kind of toolbar or anything toolbar related.

In the 'Settings' box, select Disable and then press ok. Close your internet explorer and then reopen it. If Coupon Buddy is gone, you've likely found the source. If not, disable every extensions one at a time (and restart internet explorer each time) to determine which it is. If you can't live without this add-on, then you'll have re-enable it.

* These procedures work for me, and I'm using firefox 8.0.1 and internet explorer 7.0 with windows xp home. If you're running a different internet browser version, then the steps to get to the add-on list may be different.

Hope this helps.

PS: Yes, I know mozilla.com is only concerned with firefox issues, but since general internet searches direct you here, I included internet explorer)

I use Lunascape and have had the same problems, so my thinking was this. If this Coupon Buddy is in all of the browsers and it appears that it is showing up when a toolbar is installed it must be 3rd party apps. And it is the case. I have one toolbar, IMVU chat client toolbar. I do not have this toolbar on my IE browser. Lunascape uses the gecko engine same as Firefox, so I clicked the tool's Icon on the toolbar itself, not the one for the browser. In that tools section I found a list under the predefined components tab I unchecked them one at a time until coupon Buddy went away. The check was beside a program called " Global Shopping APP". after unchecking this the Coupon Buddy is no more. Good luck and I hope this is helpful. Also I went to the company that created the thing and they are of no help whatsoever.

That highly intrusive Coupon Buddy is easy to get rid of permanently.. It's attached to the Bit Torrent Tool Bar that sometime, somehow has downloaded itself knowingly or unknowingly.

Just click the link below and simple uninstall directions are provided for the various browsers. Follow the instructions and it will be removed in seconds at no cost or further frustration.
