when I open a new web page, it loads on the previously used tab. It did not used to do this,

I do a google search for example, when I open whatever I am looking for, the previous tab disappears and is REPLACED by the next one, it does not matter how I try to go to another destination, Firefox uses the current tab.....bloody annoying!!

What website (copy/paste url here) are you on when this happens?
How do you open the new web page? Are you clicking a link or going to the Address bar at the top of Firefox?
