Websites display incorrectly in FireFox after Thunderbird is started - FF buffer corrupted ?

Websites (e.g. Slashdot) display incorrectly after I start Thunderbird and reload the website inFF. Page info shows reloaded page to be smaller, pictures are missing. After removing recent buffer history the website will display correctly after reload. Clearing offline storage also restores correct website display. Problem is 100% repeatable. Windows XP SP 3, FF 3.6.6, TB 3.1.
