How does Google still know I've visited websites when my history is cleared?
I have cleared all my history in Firefox, but when I browse on Google, it still says which pages I've visited (they have purple lettering instead of blue).
I know it is a Firefox problem, because when I select "Never remember history", the sites will change back to blue text. However, I would like to track my history in the future. Any way to solve?

Ah ok, thank you. Turns out it is Google Analytics, as when I blocked it using Ghostery the problem stopped.

When you clear your history, do you have the time range set to everything?
Yeah. I set it to everything.
Do you still see history in the Library (History > Show All History) ? --- Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.
# Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32 # Java Plug-in 1.6.0_07 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)
Update the Java and Flash plugin to the latest version. See http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#jdk (you need JRE) http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
There is no history when I clear everything in the Library (History > Show All History).
So, Firefox is telling me everything is clear, however, Google is still telling me which sites I've visited and how many times.
(Thanks for the links for updates)
Perhaps all the websites you go to use google analytics for trending / advertising and they're giving you ad's by ip address?
Do a little searching for "Google tracking" or similar.

"Secrets" are: Always clear all cookies Alwasy clear all history Never use a password manager other than your brain Keep your system clean of tracks Use FF add-ons AdBlock Plus and Ghostery, keep them updated.
