I have operating system Vista on a desk top. After installing firefox, page can not load due to error message no internet connection however I am connected. Why is this happening? Firfefox runs fine on my XP laptop.

I have Vista on my desk top. After installing firefox, I got an error message indicating firefox could not load because I did not have internet connection although I am connected. I can run IE without a problem. I was able to download Firefox without a problem. Firefox worked great on my laptop operating system XP. Why is this happening with my desk top Vista?
