I got a new phone and lost all my Collections; is there a way to recover the websites within my collections?

I just got a samsung galaxy s26 (old phone is not available); when i accessed my Firefox, my Collections were missing. From other research, it seems that Collections are not available anymore. However, there must be some way to recover the websites that were stored within them, so i can at least rebuild them.

Hello, Congratulations on your new Samsung Galaxy S26. Regarding your inquiry about Firefox Collections, it is important to clarify the technical nature of this feature to understand the recovery options. 1. The Technical Constraint: Local vs. Cloud Storage Currently, Firefox Collections are stored locally within the browser's profile on the specific device. Unlike Bookmarks or History, Collections are not yet part of the standard Firefox Sync protocol. Therefore, when a device is no longer accessible and no manual backup was made, the local database containing those Collections remains on the old hardware.

2. Potential Recovery via "Synced Tabs" Since you mentioned using Firefox Sync, there is a technical workaround. If you had opened the websites within your Collections on your old phone shortly before switching, they might still reside in the sync cloud as "Open Tabs": Open Firefox on your new S26. Tap the Tab Icon (the square with a number). Switch to the Synced Tabs icon (represented by a smartphone and laptop symbol). Look for your old device's name. If the session data hasn't expired, you can see and reopen those URLs from there.

3. Recovery via Synced History Since History is synchronized across devices: Navigate to Settings > History. Search for the domains or titles of the websites you had stored. While this won't show the "Collection" structure, it will allow you to retrieve the specific URLs to rebuild your list.

4. Future Best Practices for Power Users To ensure your data is redundant and accessible across your professional ecosystem: Use Bookmarks: Unlike Collections, Bookmarks sync instantly across Android, iOS, and Desktop. Mozilla Pocket: For long-term saving, use the integrated Pocket feature, which stores links in a platform-independent cloud.

Conclusion: Unless the old device is powered on and synced one last time to push "Open Tabs" to the cloud, the Collections themselves cannot be automatically restored. Your best path forward is checking the Synced Tabs and History sections of your Firefox account.
