I'd like to 1) Backup my settings periodically 2) Transfer the settings to a new device to migrate my Firefox settings I do not want to use a cloud account.

Hi,

I don't think it's possible without Sync. Even if it is, it would be quite a complicated digging into the Android filesystem (that also requires deep knowledge of the Firefox architecture).

I'm migrating a ton of mostly open-source apps: AVNC, K9-Mail, Antenna Pod, OsmAnd,... They all have a way to export their configuration to a file (typically without passwords, that would be fine) , and then import it back. I just push the files to a folder that gets synced directly to the new phone using Syncthing, and I'm almost done. I don't understand why a significantly larger project such as Firefox for Android doesn't have this option.

Please note that the people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or developers. When a Mozilla employee jumps into a discussion, you'll see the Mozilla Staff label next to their name.

If you wish, you can leave feedback for developers on the Mozilla Connect website. Click the Firefox Menu Fx89menuButton button in the toolbar, click Help and select Share ideas and feedback…. Alternatively, you can use this link. Your feedback is collected by a team that reads it and gathers data on the most common issues.

You can also file a bug report or feature request. See File a bug report or feature request for Mozilla products for details.

Thanks for your reply and clarification. Honestly, I knew who the audience here was, and still couldn't resist venting me disbelieve.

I guess, after more than 20 years with Firefox (Desktop and Phone), it's time to start looking elsewhere. Every phone migration has been a pain. Maybe I come back to suggest this if no other browser I like offers this. I'd be very, very surprised if this very feature hasn't been suggested multiple times in the past already.

We can close the question, I guess.
