Keyboard focus does not default to address bar ONLY in new private windows.

Title.

Keyboard focus properly defaults to the address bar for new normal windows, and new tabs both normal and private. It is ONLY in new private windows that the address bar does not auto-grab keyboard input.

The address bar is highlighted as though it SHOULD have input focus, but typing does nothing until I click in the address bar manually.

This is unfathomably annoying. I've tried fiddling with various settings in about:config, and I've tried running in troubleshoot mode to rule out extensions causing the issue. Also tried a fresh firefox profile and the issue persisted.

Hi Nero,

I can see how that can be frustrating. That said, I can't replicate the issue on end (I tried on Firefox release and Nightly). I'm stating the obvious here, but have you tried restarting the browser or your machine to see if it help?

This has been going on for the better part of a week, so yes the issue has endured through several PC restarts. I always turn my pc off at the end of every day. Not the sort to leave it running.

The only other troubleshooting step I can think about is to re-install Firefox on your desktop. But you may want to be careful about your data before doing that.

You may want to check Restore your Firefox browsing data with a backup file to backup your data before uninstalling it.
