Can I make a new tab from a group and not make it part of the group?

Let's say I have a group of 5 tabs. If I open a new tab from any of those tabs, I want that new tab to end up at the right of the group but not part of it.

Can I do that?

Hi there. The new tab will open outside the group. Then you can add the tab to the group if needed. But to answer your question. Yes you can do that.

Well, that's not what happens right now. So what settings do I need to change to make it happen?

Are you right clicking and making them that way? If so, you don't need to. You can just press the plus tab button instead.

Oh no, I meant opening a new tab from a link in one of the grouped tabs.

Hi,

I don't think there's a native setting for that. An extension may be able to do what you need, though.
