Restoring Bookmarks - Firefox

more options

Hi -

I can't seem to restore my bookmarks. Latest version of Windows crashed my system and had someone helping remotely to restore and revive it which was done.

However, it appears that the "import bookmarks" feature doesn't allow me to import my firefox bookmarks. And I had thought that I had imported them, but now they are no longer available under import bookmarks. And there are no bookmarks available either.

I think something happened with things the remote person was doing but can't verify.

Is there any way to get back a few years worth of work bookmarks? Thank you,

First of all what did they do? We need the steps they did-if anyone to know what they did.

There are two Import options on the menu:

If you meant Restore, the Restore menu only lists automatic backups in your current profile. If it's a new profile, it won't have any backups (and any backups are unlikely to have your old data).

Were you previously signing your Firefox into a Mozilla Account to sync data?

Some Windows reset/refresh features store your old data in a folder named:

C:\Windows.old

If you have that folder, it's temporary and gets deleted after 28 days, so we should check ASAP.

Turn on viewing of hidden files and folders --

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5

-- and explore up the path to

C:\Windows.old\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox

Is there data there? If so, we can suggest how to restore this to the new locations.
