Browsers need to be updated for security reasons, when security holes are found they patch and update the release. And if the Addons devs don't update to work with latest Firefox browser update or security updates then it's up to the Addon devs to update so it work in latest version of Firefox browser. If your having issues updating you need to take it to a computer shop to do this. This is just a user help forum not a support ticket help.

the option to just take it to a computer shop is not available to me. I don't care why updates are done, only that EVERY time I am required to update anything, it ALWAYS screws up things that are already working fine. I need a way to make singlefile work, whether firefox can be upgraded or not. Additionally, my question did not include everything I originally wrote, as I included as much info as possible to enable someone to possibly help me. Another aggravation on top of the other.

They can't leave a browser outdated in security and risk data loss being blamed on their browser not being up to date. They have a responsibility to update and keep their browser secure and if the other Addon's don't update to work with the latest update there's nothing the browser can do but disable to protect itself from malicious actors. This is why people and company that don't have update software or most recent based on their OS opens their computer and networks to malware that either online or comes as spams.

this IS NOT an issue with the addons themselves. This is an issue with firefox not loading onto my computer in order to then be able to accept the addon security stuff. Forcing people to continually update stuff that already works and not giving an option to bypass the disablement for certain features or for addons just screws people over. because my entire question was not shown, your responses have been less than useful.

...QUIT FIXING IT. Firefox disabled my addons, thus forcing me to upgrade, and I an now angry. Tried downloading the new version several times. My os is as updated as it can get. Using the APT link from this site, it just shows garbage. Using the download for linux 64 bit link, it makes me jump through hoops and looks like it is working, but it looks different and none of my bookmarks carried over. Closing it down and reopening it, I see the old version...

old version, thus making it look like I am running both versions separately. Once the *all new singing and dancing special version that is supposedly so much better than the old one that some ignoramus decided that I MUST use it instead of the old and functional one* is closed out, I see no way to reopen it. AND neither version will allow me to enable or download singlefile. That is the only thing I need from firefox at this time.

 Will somebody please show me, step by step, as if I am 5 years old,  a way to get firefox to upload or a back door that will allow me to enable singlefile before I go nuts and start beating random programmers to death using reams of algorithms?
