Hi a few well known sites annoyingly load booking.com in a new tab on my firebox browser. I cant stand this it is intrusive. How to I stop firefox from doing this - I have block pops setting enabled but does not help.

Offending sites to name but a few are ryanair, thetrainline, and a few others. Is there a way to stop this without stopping other legitimate needed new tabs such as with Gmail login

When I use SeatGuru, that sometimes happens, although I can't remember which advertising partner they open.

Firefox's built-in popup blocker has exceptions for certain events, such as clicking a button. It's difficult to remove that exception without breaking useful functionality, so hopefully someone else will have a suggestion for a good add-on or some other idea.
