Whenever I click on a notification news item it comes via The independent newspaper that I find very annoying. Is there a way of changing this? I was happy with Firefox the way it was until Microsoft mail was installed on my PC.

Where are you seeing that notification option at? Also Firefox browser doesn't install software beyond what the user themselves click to install. Microsoft isn't a Firefox browser/Mozilla software so not sure where your getting all that info.
