As title, MS defender keeps detecting trojans everytime firefox is launched and while I'm pretty sure it's probably just a false positive its just getting rather frustrating and now more so, worrying that it's constantly happening.

Anything found in the Cache is harmless if left untouched as it will be overwritten over time as Cache is used or be deleted if you clear the Cache.

We had an article about this, but is was for old Firefox versions and the steps for clearing the cache are outdated.

Yeah, I took the time to look through before I posted but as you said it was outdated so wanted to double check. I have cleared the cache, done scans ect. Just frustrating to have that paranoia as it pops up every time I launch my browser.

I'm on Windows 11. I don't know if MS Defender uses different definitions between 10 and 11.

Its outdated in that the clearing Cache settings part is outdated. It was also one of those articles created back in 2009 but was not used enough to bother keeping it updated for every little change as some like AliceWyman does with the English KB articles.

It may be due to going to some certain websites as one poster in another thread like this thinks it was from viewing the Twitch site, not saying Twitch is bad or such.

Defender has had a few false positives with Firefox related things before and occasionally one antivirus or another makes a big unnecessary scene about something found in the Cache. Back during the Firefox 114.0 release Defender was the only one that claimed a couple language packs were infected with a trojan script otherwise Defender has been rather good overall with Firefox compared to some other antivirus clients.

Also in case of false positives with Firefox the antivirus clients often get an definitions update pretty quickly.

Yeah, I do visit twitch often. I mostly use my Browser for Youtube, Twitch and Amazon but sadly that's where similarities end. As this detection starts when I open firefox. I removed the 'threat', cleared the cache and restarted firefox and there it is again. Keep in mind my browser opens on Google and that's it. For a brief second aswell when I open Firefox, the loading icon on my cursor is present as if it's loading something which is why I was concerned.
