Error message each time an update downloads
With the last two updates that Mozilla Firefox for desktop sent, I get an error message that will not allow me to open or use Firefox. The error message is "Cannot load XPCOM." I've had to uninstall Firefox and download it again both times to make Firefox work until the next time you send an update, then I have to go through this procedure all over again. What is going wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated. If this cannot be fixed I will need to find another browser (although it won't be as good as Firefox has been over the years.

An error message like XPCOM missing or about platform version or entry points not found can happen because of a failed Firefox update that left you with a mixture of old and updated files in the Firefox installation folder. This can happen in case security software was keeping a handle of some of the files in the Firefox program folder preventing Firefox from replacing all the files.
You need to remove the Firefox program folder to ensure that all files are replaced and the reinstall Firefox. Your settings are in a separate Profile and not in the Firefox folder.
You may have to disable security software temporarily in case the problem persists.
