Sophie, does sound play on other sites?
I wonder if the Yahoo tab has been inadvertently muted? Try pressing ctrl+M while viewing the silent tab and see if the sound returns.
(ctrl+M mutes and unmutes Firefox tabs in Windows. Alternatively, you can right-click on the tab's header at the top and select Mute or Unmute here)
