I had to reset windows 11, all my files were kept ,including the history in firefox but the bookmarks of 10 years of work were deleted. I tried to restore it but there is no old version in my computer after the reset. iI am vey sad. please contact me for help thank you

Thank you for your question about the Firefox Sync service.

It appears from your question, that you are using Firefox Sync as a back up service. This is not what Sync is designed to do. The Firefox Sync service takes a copy of the data you wish to include and transfers it to a second device (typically a mobile device such as a tablet or a telephone) running a copy of Firefox. The storage in between all attached devices is both temporary and fragile and is not stable enough to be (and is not designed as) a reliable backup service.

If you have a copy of your Firefox profile for desktop Firefox, you may be able to recover your bookmarks and other data. Please have a read of this article.

If you have a copy of your data on a mobile version of Firefox, please follow these instructions to connect it to Firefox Sync to copy your data.

Thank for replying but the article linked in your answer completely ignors the fact that all of this happend becuase I did a reset to windows 11, that deleted Firefox completey from the computer. I do have access to my profile but it only contains the history and pinned pages to the home page. Please tell what else can be done. For years I have been installing Firefox and always the information was kept with me. I am very dissapointed. What else could be done?? I have searched all over but could not find a solution

You can copy certain files with Firefox closed from one profile folder to the current profile folder to recover personal data. Note that best is to avoid restoring a full profile folder and only restore important files that are safe to restore/transfer.

• permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other website specific data (Site Preferences)
• sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)

Excuse me but you keep referencing to articles that are no help. I tried all of them and nothing works !! I expect your support knowledge to be a bit more professional and to come up with solutions to more complexed problems. As I mentioed, ta reset on Windows 11 was held and it erased Firefox. When I re-installed it, the historty and favorite pages on the homepage were kept, but the bookmarks. How can I trasfom information between profiles, if they don't exsist to begin with? Is there a way to be in live -chat with you ?

You can check if you have the C:\Windows.old folder with your Firefox profile data.

I too had to format my SSD and re-install Firefox. Had to change password to sign-in, and now over 15 years of Bookmarks gone. I NEED these back. HELP!!! drhempy@msn.com
